I need help identifying my Bottecchia model.

Iím the original owner of the attached SLX Bottecchia; I bought the bike from Jaxís Bike Shop in Long Beach, CA in either 1987, or 88. Itís been in storage for the last 20+ years. Love the 80ís grip tape and computer, thatís coming off, HA! The turbo seat is stamped 87. The groupo is Athena.
Does anyone know what model it is? Note, the head tube has painted lugs, not chromed, with green accent paint and the rear triangle is chrome.
    Thanks!

We will need a bit better pics, maybe something straight from the side.

The groups looks to me like Athena cranks, RD and FD but the brakes are Chorus (atleast they were until '93) the shifters look like Simplex (likely a upgrade from the Synchro) So if the drivetrain is mostly Athena I believe this would have been purchased in '89 or very late '88.

That seems like alot of seatpost showing.

Bianchis '87 Sport SX, '90 Proto, '90 Campione del Fausto Giamondi Specialisma Italiano Mundo, '91 Boarala 'cross, '93 Project 3, '86 Volpe, '97 Ti Megatube, , '90 something Vento 603,

Others but still loved,; '80 RIGI, '80 Batavus Professional, '87 Cornelo, '09 Motobecane SS, '?? Jane Doe (still on the drawing board), '90ish Haro Escape

I'm not sure this model really has a name, as all the one's I've ever seen just goes by Bottecchia SLX.

It's a great bike, in classic Bottecchia colors. This is a very nice, high quality bike, and pretty much the equal of other high end Italian bikes, as by this time, most of the hand crafting had gone out of the industry altogether. With the bike boom pretty much over, companies like Bottechia were trying hard to rid themselves of a reputation of poor quality, mass produced bike's and trying to get back into the American market with quality bikes after the Japanese had knocked them out. This was a good example of the re-emergence of high quality Italian bike making.

I'd love to put one of these into my stable. It oozes Italian passion....

I've seen that frame called the Equipe in some catalogs (SLX tubing, Cinelli BB). I have the TSX version with chrome lugs but otherwise same paint scheme which they often called the Team. Mine is 1988

    Wow, that is truly beautiful!

Everytime I see one of these bikes, it makes me want one so badly. There really could be an "Equipe" in my future...

+1, circa 1988 they were named on the basis on the tubeset and component group. Consequently, this would be a Bottecchia SLX Athena.

    Wow, a beauty!
I bought a set of Delta’s when I got the bike, maybe it’s time to install them.
