Post your Thanksgiving day pics here
If you shoot any. I don't have any, but it's early yet. Hope to get a ride in today. Since I live about a stone's throw from where the pilgrims landed I thought I'd post this pic. I've read there are more of these magnificent birds here now than there were when the white immigrants landed. I've watched this group all season long. There were about 20 in the group on most occasions I saw them in my yard. They are impressive birds. I did wonder idly how one would taste but if I ever took that thought to fruition I'm sure I'd be sleeping in the garage for the next year or so.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone.

Nice looking gobblers but why didn't you dress them?
Rootboy you live near Plymouth? What is the name of that lake down there Long Pond? I have ridden alot of miles up and down Rt 3A, but mostly up near Hull, Hingham and Scituate.
I was torn between going for a ride or heading to the range (hopefully the deer hunters will still be eating or watching the foosball) but my Daughter may come over so I may have to cook
Not really Thanksgiving pics but here is the new gas stove I'll be breaking in today
And I know I could lose my C&V membership for completing a project/upgrade so fast but... I got a new bolt in the mail for my Ruger yestrday and I actually installed it already this morning. Unfortunatley the brakes didn't come for my, well they are at the post office awaiting a signature or something, Univega, I was hoping to finish that today.

Your a Fireman? God Bless you!! Firemen are some of my biggest heros along with Teachers, Nurses, Policemen, and Military Members. I mean anyone can throw or catch a foosball some just do it better, but it takes real guts to run towards a burning building or wrecked car.

I'll second that, BG. Firemen are generally under-appreciated, until you need one. A fireman lives right across the street from us and I believe he may be on duty today too.
That's a fine looking rifle, BG.
I actually live on the Cape. While I'm relatively new to this area, I understand the pilgrims landed first near Provincetown, then decided it was too bleak and not suitable for settling so they hopped back in their ships and made their way to Plymouth. Being from the Rocky Mountain west I'm always a bit amazed when I drive past the sign indicating the borderline of our town.
Incorporated in 1639 !
Here's to the local Wampanoag tribe who, instead of slaughtering the new arrivals were kind enough to help them through that first winter. The birds in that pic are kind of iconic of the day, I suppose. I used to do a bit of bird hunting but have never hunted turkeys, which I understand are among the toughest and wariest species to hunt. I pretty much gave up bird hunting when I moved here, away from the great open spaces of the Great Basin. Sold my duck gun but kept my beautiful Ruger 20 bore.
This thread is threatening to be severely off topic, but.......

Bianchi Girl-
Would you have an opinion on a good all-around rifle for a woman? I'm interested in shooting sports, but have no idea where to start. I'd like to get my girls involved through 4H as well. It's a usefull skillset to have. If it's not too off topic, I'd love to hear your opinion.

Not very Thanksgiving-like either, but these are snaps from my Thanksgiving-morning ride.
(It's been positively balmy here recently. I'm looking forward to the cold weather!)

Annual "Grand Rounds" ride this morning.
53 degrees this year.
We were up to 6 couples this year and they were inspired to really get up and go.
54 miles + 12 more down to Mendota Heights for breakfast.
Happy Thanksgiving! Bring on the turkey.

They can be pricey esp when you need 3+ plus you should consider the 2 bike free standing racks like I use. You will have to block 1& 1/2 window but will give you some floor space. Or you can put 2 back to back in the middle and have some wall space.
Since I worked in a pic of my 'Leg Lamp' do I get points for the first Christmas pic?

Happy T-day all! No pics, Luxembourg was deeply blanketed in FOG all day today. I headed out on a 2.5 hour mtn bike ride in the Ardennes, and it was a bit spooky. As if you could hear the ghosts of the soldiers lost during the battle of the bulge whispering. Pretty eerie. Just thinking about it makes me so thankful for those guys and what they did back in the winter of '44. I just read a great book on the topic and living in the same place where it all went down is quite the reality check. I spent a long time in the Marines, and since joining DS have done tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, but that's nothing compared to what those guys went though.
So, yeah...thankful. Definitely.
And Bianchi Girl, if you're looking for advice about shooting and getting started I was a USMC marksmanship instructor, and a police firearms instructor. I'd be happy to share my thougts, they're free and worth every penny. PM me if you'd like some info.

Weather has been incredible for Thanksgiving in Missouri – 70-ish yesterday and still hovering in the mid-60’s this morning. It would be a darned shame to miss out on a Thanksgiving Day ride through Clay County this morning, despite the rather heavy winds. Besides, the temps are supposed to drop in the morning and by Monday the forecast is for “damcold” temps.
OK, so the Boulder isn’t a true “C&V” ride but it has a taste of KOF – and besides, I like riding it. First stop this morning is the Historic Liberty Square in Liberty, Missouri.
The roads are especially free of traffic this morning, particularly once you get off the beaten path.
Historic places abound in this area. This former grist mill now houses retail and restaurant spaces.
Is it possible this will be the last day we see the sun until next April? Jeez, I hope not!
Gratuitous self-portrait on the bike.
And now to loop back toward home and the aroma of sausage rolls, Yorkshire pudding, bumbleberry pie. Oh turkey – lots and lots of turkey!
Y’all have a great Turkey Day, and be safe.

I"ll get my ride in tomorrow to burn off the calories. I was in the kitchen at 8 making the turkey, stuffing, sweet potato casserole and biscuits. Now just waiting for the hoard to descend.
We did go out to the local fire companies pancake breakfast. I am thankful those men and women are so dedicated to helping others and they make a nice pancake too.

2hrs of woodworking this morning - bike ride to come in a few minutes. Beautiful and sunny but only 35 degrees F right now so I'll look forward to the point on the ride where I actually warm up.

After outlining transfer pricing all morning, I got out to enjoy a great DC afternoon. My Voyageur is a heck of a gal. I decided to take only one bike (out of ~14) to DC for my masters program, and she made the cut.
I also made a curry and serrano turkey.
