Weigle Waggle

Somehow snagged a Weigle Special Road, circa '85. It arrived the day I had to pack for Westminster, so I didn't get to build it up till after getting back home today. Midnight oil and other concoctions were consumed. A few pix attached below.

It's a racier design, Classic American Road with some hearts. Clearances aren't generous, true 28s clear OK in the rear, no wider/taller than 27 up front. I've got Blue Cerfs on now at about 25.5mm; Vittoria Open Pave 27s on the way.

There may be a slightly wider-clearance fork in my future.

I'm looking forward to seeing how she goes...

Wow, the frame looks to have never been ridden. Is that the original paintjob from 1985? Or did I misunderstand something?

Yellow frames POP.

Simple but elegant and built to suit you, what could be sweeter?
As to the clearances, 28 rear and 25 front makes a nice ride combo

I had just seen the pics on your Flickr feed, and was wondering if it was yours or if you were taking photos for a friend.. and now I know!

Like everyone else, I think the yellow paint is great and in remarkable condition. Any chance of sharing the history of the bike/frame?

Fabulous bike, Paul.

It was great to see you at Westminster. Clearly, I should have spent more time hanging with you to hear the story of this lovely machine.

Congrats!

Yellow's normally not my color, but wow! That's just beautiful. Looks fast just sitting still. Some bright blue handlebar tape would look great on there. Congrats!

We need a ride report asap! Amazing. Regarding the clearance, from this excellent close-up shot you posted it seems the limiting factor for front clearance is the brake caliper, not the underside of the fork crown. Is that correct?
