Question from a newb - Vintage SPARTAN - Should I buy? Price?

Hello,

Great forum, a lot of great advice. Thanks in advance for any help.

Newb here, looking to buy a cheaper beginner bike for intown commuting. Wouldn't mind doing a little work on it if needed. The following bike is listed on craigslist for $80.00

https://atlanta.craigslist.org/bik/381733556.html

From the seller I was told that it has a "made in Taiwan" sticker on it and likely from the 70's? (no other information).

I have searched this forum (as well as google) and have been unable to find any infor on the bike.
I did find the attached photos of another SPARTAN which are a little clearer.

I am guessing that it is a lower end bike?

Any advice about the bike or a what a fair price for it would be is appreciated!

Thanks

Looks rather department store-ish to me. Doesn't mean it's a bad bike, but definitely lower-end. Prolly heavy as all unholy [dirty word].

Price would vary a bit depending on area (I dunno how the market is in ATL anymore, but bikes were cheap last time I was there), but regardless of that, $80 seems a rather high even if it's in perfect shape. I'm going with vpiuva here, it'd have to be in pretty good working condition to get $40-50 IMO.
