Best seat color for this bike.

I'm trying to figure out the best seat color for this bike. The black just doesn't seem right so I thought I might change seats or add a seat cover. Which do people think would look better white or blue? If it helps the original seat color was black quilted.-

The blue in the back looks similar to your blue, and just happens to look pretty good near that violet colt. It'd probably look even better as the saddle darkens with use. So, I'm throwing a curveball. Violet Brooks.

I was thinking a brown or honey Brooks would add to the classic look. That blue colt looks similar to the highlights on your frame, might look good on it as well.

In my opinion, the bar tape is the problem, not the saddle. The bar tape is too bright, grabbing the viewer's attention, while distracting from the overall beauty of the bicycle. Switch the bar tape to black and the saddle will look just fine.

Again, only my opinion.

Agreed, My general rule is that the bar tape matches the saddle. That way there's some sort of consistancy. like how curtains should match the drapes...

That bike deserves this:

and a black saddle. Or, black tape and black Brooks.

Origin 8 Aero. I would have finished the bars in blue tape as well, but I didn't have blue on hand at the time.

Well changing the bar tape is an interesting idea. I was looking at some catalog pics of how the bike was originally set up surprising it came with white bartape and a black brooks saddle. The idea of going with black bartape does seem the most practical and little easier on the wallet. I also have a black and white saddle with red trim that I might try to see how that looks.

I also really like the look of the brooks colt but it isn't really in my budget for this build since I may sell the bike.

Hmmmmmm, a pastel blue would at least match the paint panels better, if that's what you are after. I'd go with black. Bar tape should be cloth black, end of story. As for the saddle, no one can see it when you're sitting on it.

Admittedly, the white/white combination looks pretty good on those other pics.

shoot if you're selling it just leave it be. Chances are the buyer either won't care or won't notice.

I agree with those who didn't like the blue bar tape. It isn't that the blue looks bad, but it makes the saddle look out of place. Unobtrusive would be best. You can not go wrong with black cotton tape and a leather saddle. Trying to match the blue tape with an equally loud saddle, I think, would look cheesy.

FWIW, I think black is never wrong for a saddle, even of it doesn't match the bar tape. White works a fair amount of the time, especially if the bike has white bar tape and white accents or lettering on the frame, and Brooks tan or brown saddles look good (especiallu if they have aged a bit), color-wise, but otherwise I'm not a big fan of non-black saddles.

Definitely change the bar tape to black. The blue doesn't look good enough to warrant changing the saddle, IMO.
