Classic? Vintage? I hope I still fit in!

Downtubes? Check
Quill Stem? Check
Made in USA? Check

Traded in my trusty 1981 Miyata 210 today. The 210 I had upgraded to downtube shifters, a sweet Dia-Compe stem, Nitto B114 bars and an SR alloy post.

Traded that in today; plus a bit of cash for this beauty. As far as I can tell, it is a 1995 Cannondale R300. This thing is a downright FEATHER compared to the Miyata, but I will still miss the old Japanese steel.

Well, am I still C+V? Can I still talk to you guys?

No. Pack your bags and leave immediately.

Edit: Just kidding! It seems like you're on the edge though.

You still have DT shifters, so your OK in the C&V world!

I think that's a big step-up in performance compared to the rather low-end Miyata. I think your going to have a blast on the Cannondale!

Nice score-those are actually very nice riders and it looks like the one you got is in great shape. RX100?

First off rccardr, your threads made me choose this bike as basically my grail bike. I have been searching for one for quite a while now, and finally found one. Your builds are amazing.

Seems like every component (brake levers, calipers, hubs, front and rear derailleurs, crankset) are all RSX, the shifters are "Shimano light action sis".

Only thing I would like to change on it is the bar tape, any suggestions on colors?

The C'Dale is very nice, good trade for you, in my view. I had a '91 SR300 that was an absolute dream bike for me. I strongly regret selling it to this day and keep my eye out for that and a '72 Bottecchia Special to relive my wasted youth and middle age with those two bikes. The RSX components are good stuff, my R500T has it on board, really like it.

I would wager that rccardr has been the cause of many C&V and new C'Dales that are out there on our hands now. he is truly one of the Good Guys.

I'd probably switch that bar tape out too, not a fan of the McDonald's look. Black would probably look the best.

And you've got nothing to worry about here, I think I'd be more likely to be kicked out for what my SR300 looks like than you would for your beauty.

+1.
And you don't have to worry about being banished from C&V. Even though (or maybe especially because ) they're made from beer cans, true-blue C&V'ers love 'em.

Nice Cannondale!

I'm glad old C-Dale's get a C&V pass, I have 1-1/2 hanging around. Most of an '89 3.0 and a complete '93 2.8.

As far as I can tell, it is a 1995 Cannondale R300.
Try it this way:

" As far as I can tell, it is an 18 year old Cannondale R300."

Yep....that sounds like your in

But I gotta ask the obvious....Why?

That is a nice bike, but I have to bring it up; It looks like the miyata was a better fit.

Down tube shifters, check. Clips and straps, check. 18 years old? Bordering on vintage, but close enough for government work. Besides, in seven years, it'll be 25 years old, and at that point it's vintage even if its carbon fiber, brifters (assuming they were original equipment) and clipless pedals. And the old farts are just going to have to live with that. Deal.

A deeper, richer yellow would give it a hot Italian racing car look.
