We're creeping towards April. 13-15 is the three-day Patriot's Day holiday in Ma and ME. Maybe the 14th would work for all interested parties?

Might be nice to put a face to all these names if nothing else. Live one exit from the CCRT which on the cape translate to a mile & a quarter. Would need a week to get a Sunday off, don't usually pick up Saturday OT but long lead time could in sure the day off.

I could probably do it on that Sunday. Usual weather caveats, etc.

SOMEBODY's got to start giving those Pastors a Sunday off now and again. :>

Actually, I was off today and last Sunday--- but was in sunny FL (the panhandle to be precise). Will miss the Nor'easter on Tuesday!

If a Sunday is best for the majority I understand. Such is the hazard of my calling. One more decade, and I'll have more flexibility!

Hi PB, glad to hear you are out of the cold for a bit. My wife has spent this winter in Florida while I've been holding down the fort here in New England. Not really looking forward to this upcoming storm, it's getting close to riding time and I've added a new bike to my fleet over the winter. Haven't even gotten it out once yet.

The 13th could be really great for me. I might even bring along my future son in law who can help with the drive to and from Cape Cod. I might not be able to put him on a C&V bike, but I know you good folks won't mind.

otg, I've only been out for a handful of rides. Winter has not cooperated very much this year!

Oh, the horror of it all.

How big/tall is he? If he's close to "average" I can put him on a good bike. Seat posts are adjustable, so I've heard it said.

And if you'd want a stop-over halfway between Frozen Overshoe, NH and Cape Cod you can stop at our place. Don't have much sleeping space but food is plentiful.

13th is good for me as well ... the weather will be spectacular if PB joins us! This will be my first longish ride of the sean, I suspect the normally flat CCRT will have it's post winter hills to be dealt with.

Remember, wool jerseys if you have them ..

I could easily supply a ride betweenn 52-58 cm.

Can't do the 13th because I have to work that weekend. I may try and get a few hours off on the 14th and head to Orono (ME) for some bike swap goodness. I scored pretty good last year. The Portland one is insane as well, it's where I usually take my spare bikes to sell since it's a feeding frenzy.

He's only 24 and I don't know if I have enough time before hand to teach him how to friction shift! If he rides a 20 year old Cannondale, is that C&V enough?

Jim you are kind! When I told my wife, she wants to come as well. We might come down Friday night. There's an Inn in Sandwich that we really like. Of course I'll need to skoot to be back in NH before it is too late on Saturday.

I'm freeing up the 13th, just need to know a time and place to meet up. I also could supply a 24" Super Sport for Pastor Bob's future son-in- law. I may bring it anyway to see if anyone might be interested in swapping something for it.

It's not in as good a shape as the picture would suggest, paint is tired, but it's mechanically sound.

So we'll do Apr 13, weather permitting of course. And if it isn't but isn't exactly pouring rain Sharon and I may be there anyway. Western trailhead of the CCRT in Dennis, MA. That's on the left on Rt 134 (exit 9 off Rt6), less than half a mile south of Rt 6.

We're proposing a 10AM start (it takes us 90 min to drive down from Waltham). There is plenty of parking.

The trail is 22 miles, so a round trip is obviously 44. At the northern end in Wellfleet we can take mile or so run over to a beach on the Atlantic. In Orleans, about halfway, there is a nice chocolate/coffee shop. There are few picnic spots also, in Nickerson St Forest and other places. The trail is generally but not entirely flat. Two bridges over Rt6 have moderate though short hills. Some other sections have gradual grades. It could be cold and/or windy, so be prepared.

We intend to bring some lunch! We recommend others do too so we won't end up eating while other hungry faces watch. We will have plenty of carrying capacity on the tandem so we can take spare jackets or food for people with super-lightweight bikes and no ability to carry even a patch kit. Of course that doesn't apply to any of you.

I've locked that day in, weather permitting. I've invited two friends, one a local girl from Orleans. I've seen that date be in the '30's as well as in the high '70's. Chances are good for '50's with a cool breeze as we get close to the eastern beaches.

Now, which bike to ride?

Scott

Subscribing to this thread in case I can get away that day. I'll be on the Cape for Easter at my cousin's home in West Barnstable.

I'm jumping in late, and I've looked over the entire thread. I see you're having it on April 13. What's the location? I know it's in here somewhere, but where? There's not much chance I can make it, since I'm pretty far, but I can at least fantasize.

It's starts in Dennis, MA, on Cape Cod, at the head of the Cape Cod Rail Trail.

After crossing the Sagamore Bridge onto the Cape, follow route 6, the Mid Cape Highway, about 15 miles to exit 9A. Dennis exit. Turn right off the exit and proceed about 3/4 of a mile south. You'll go through two lights, I believe. Entrance to the Cape Cod Rail Trail is on the left, about 1/4 mile past the second light. Large parking lot with sign out front.

And if you're coming up via 495, etc., follow the signs to Route 6. South, I think they call it. Even though it's actually east...to me.

As I posted earlier, Frank or anyone else coming from the north is welcome to stop by our place as a halfway-point rest. We don't have much sleeping space (a sofa and floor but no beds), but we do actually have real food. On the other hand, unless you're coming from a very limited range of direction you are likely to be heading down 495 or straight through Boston on 93, rather than coming around rt128/95.
