Other Bikes by Tsunoda
I have two 1984 Lotus' (Loti?), a Classique and an Odyssey, built by Tsunoda. Of all the Japanese bikes of the period that I have had the chance to inspect the frame from the inside out, these two are by far the ones with the most care and craftmanship with the exception of my 3Rensho, and they are not far behind that. Mine are not bottom-of the line bikes, but they are not the top end either.
I know Bridgestone, Panasonic, Miyata, Kuwamura, and others built a variety of Schwinns, Univegas, Nishikis, et al. I think that Lotus used some other frame suppliers as well, but I was wondering if anyone else source from Tsunoda as I would like to take a peek inside their frames as well.

Well, I can't find out much of anything about Tsunoda other than they made their own brand of bikes for the Japanese domestic market. They are still in business. It might be worth contacting them via their web site to see if they could shed any light on other brands they manufactured for.

I have thought about that. I have enought trouble trying to understand my teenagers (at least we have the same alphabet...I think...Twitter...not so sure), much less Japanese websites.

I was hoping that T-mar or the guy who does the Lotus website (sorry, can't remember who it is) might chime in.

I wrote a letter to Tsunoda last April asking if they had any information at all about Lotus bicycles. Here is their reply:
Dear Mr.Snydermann
We are very sorry, we couldn't find any file about LOTUS bike in our warehouse.
Sincerely
Steve Tsunoda
President TSUNODA Co.,Ltd.

Who imported Lotus? Wonder if they have records for "Joe Schmoe Bicycle Importers"
