Miyata 600GT

https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/3144238725.html

I have a call in to find out more on the bike (still available?!)

Anything that the Miyata fans can tell me from a glance? I would guess ~1990ish and looking pretty original, but I am in the company of experts...

Cheers~

Looks to be a '90 or '91, all original. A good solid touring/ commuting bike, if the size is right. The Bar Cons have a Friction mode, so that's
a plus in my book.

Go for it; it's a good platform to upgrade if you so desire.

Not sure of the year, but that's a good deal. I'd go ahead and just buy it.

Touring bike ... triple chain wheel, 21 speeds, cantilever brakes, bar cons, chro mo frame, rear alloy rack, 700 wheels, toes clips, bottle cage, braze-ons for attaching stuff, intact brake hood covers, it's a Miyata .... really not in your best interest to post these deals here in the future. Just go for it! Everybody else probably is right now! If there isn't something really seriously wrong with it, it is a really awesome freakin' deal!!! I myself saw "Englewood" and started to think about crossing the George Washington Bridge into New Jersey ... then I saw "Denver Craigslist" and said to myself ... "darn!" OK, I am excited here.

Mwahahaha! Super nice guy. Let me into his house so my daughter could use the potty and everything. One of the rare occassions that I didn't bother to haggle. He thought he was getting a pretty good deal and I feel the same; winning! He was just happy it was going to someone who appreciates it. Anyway, very pleasant transaction! This thing has been ridden a couple of times and has ~20 years of dust (not really he cleaned it up, but it needs some of the attention you would expect in a situation like this. The DT stuff has barely been touched. Can't wait to put some miles on it, pull the kids around town, etc...

Edit: it is a 1990 (100th year anniversary!); SN SC71090

Sounds like a score for the guy in FoCo! Congratulations; you have a fine steed there!

As we told another new Miyata owner earlier; ride the bike for a bit and get a feel for everything.
Repack all of the bearing surfaces, lube the cables and clean him up, then go and have a nice long ride!

Guess I should update the status of this find:

Cleaned, lubed, greased, new tubes and tires, cables, chain, etc. A leather seat and some elk leather from VO. Was given a Green Guru dutchy pannier (the brand new ones with the PET sides and bottom and shoulder strap), which is convenient and goes well on the bike. It pulls the kids around in the trailer and is a joy thus far.
