drillium or is it millium?
I started by viewing Otis's website...it was so inspirational

a seatpost caught my attention and I thought this would look good on my Puch.
this one was done with a hacksaw, drill, and a Fein vibrating sawblade and handfiles.
the front was very labor intensive.
this was the results, it can be barely seen
after all the filing and smoothing I put it in the bead blasting cabinet.
now Im building Nelli's Junior F. Moser, and I got a short ugly post for it.
My new friend has a metal fabrication shop-
Lathe, MIG,TIG,milling machine, sheet metal brake and cutters....(Heaven of a mancave!)
This time I went Millium- it took less then an hour to do it, I just need to bead blast it.

I like the work on the SR post, tough job to do with hand tools.
I think you may have a problem with the amount of material you took out of to other one though? Hope your kid is light!

cool jobs, especially on the Puch! The grass always looks a greener on the other side Did you get a lil' paint sample from the guys who painted your frame, or was it matched with model paint?

I love the SR post very smooth looking. Did you shave the inside of the post? you can mill a few mils off and same a few grams that way.

The builder milled this 26.8mm 1st gen NR post on my bike on the outside to fit into the 23.8mm seat tube. you can just barely see the transition in diameter 3/4 op the tube,......but also milled the inside of the tube to further to reduce material and lessen the weight, so most of the seatpost tube is quite thin walled. Maybe that's something to consider doing on your seatposts too....
The Campagnolo seatposts were so bomb-proof because of their hefty construction but paid dearly in the weight department....
They left the weeenie world mostly to the French, I guess.

LOL, when I check my modern KCNC Ti Prolite seatpost (good ol' aluminium despite the name) with my Campagnolo Super Record 27.2 from the eighties, the difference is hilarious. What do you mean, build like a tank?!? The campy is litteraly six times as fat

That Puch post looks fantastic - great call on the bead-blast treatment, too. I wish I had to tools to play that game!
I'm with a few others regarding the post destined for Nelli's bike, however - there sure isn't a lot of metal remaining and the post will take quite a bit of strain. I hope it holds up

I considered drilling the pin through like Otis does but said i removed enough.
Nelli is 32kgs-70 pounds, the bike is 24" junior so it is limited on how big the rider could be.
it looks structurally ok.
I will bead blast it maybe next week.
DD- a beadblast cabinet is not very big and well worth the investment, I believe you have a compressor.

I'll eventually get around to making some tooling for my lathe to bore the inside of the 2-bolt Record posts. This is what Campagnolo did on the SL and 1st generation Super Record posts.
