John Deere 3 speed.
OK so it's not exactly a classic but it is old. I just traded this seemingly unridden (still has tangs and molding flash on original tires) John Deere for some stuff out of my store. I know it's one of the first Taiwanese bikes imported and is low end bike boom stuff. This one looks to be in great shape under 40 years of sundry basement dust. My wife may even like this one. Will post cleaned, polished and serviced pics when done.

I was thinking manure spreader but yeah you need a PTO for sure.

Deere started making bikes in 1895 those along with your 70's vintage 10 and 3 speeds have a small but loyal cult following.

As long as the motor isn't driving the vehicle, motors are fine. Gasoline powered washing machines and such. I grew up in Amish country. I realize this post is off topic; It seems to be my forte.

One of the most novel things I saw was an Amish upholstery shop. A gasoline engine outside one end of the building ran a belt up to a pulley on a shaft about 8' above ground level. On the inside of the shop the shaft ran the length of the building, with a separate pulley and belt running down to each sewing machine.

It may be that at some point in the distant past, JD actually built bikes, but any John Deere bikes of the modern era are brand licensed. John Deere is one of the most licensed brands ever, surpassed only by Harley Davidson I believe.

I think it woudl be sweet to build one up all Campy, alloy wheels & all then show up at a group ride in a full JD kit ( cut off Levis and a Tractor Supply T-shirt)

What helps this one with the JD fans is the color. The 10 speed was black, 5 speed white, 3 speed classic JD green and yellow for the muscle bike.

I saw a gents version exactly like yours at a garage sale a couple of years ago. I have almost gone back a few times to see if it sold. I think they were asking $30.00
