Build up suggestions, any idea of a date?

Hello everyone, recently picked up this gem on fleabay, not too much to go on regarding date, hoping someone might have some idea. Also, I'm looking to build it up, so I welcome suggestions on that as well. Thanks.

Hmmm....SLX and FD tang could mean mid 80's.....85, 86ish....
BTW, on that first pic in the auction page, is that dark thing on top of the lower head lug a gap in the brazing? Could be no big deal if the brazing material is just below the edge of the lug....

It looks like it's been spray painted. You may want to get it redone. I would agree with chombi on the date and also, but say it could be as late as say 90 or 91. Your build should be dictated by your intended use. So if you want to ride it lots and want function I would put modern parts on it. If you're looking to build it up as a period bike then shimano 600 or dura-ace 8 speed, or campagnolo 1st gen. chorus.
