Condor World Series build
Thought some folks might be interested to see my Condor World Series build. The frame is limited to 150 in each of five colourways and is an unspecified mix of Columbus and Dedacciai, made in Italy for Condor Cycles of London.
This is the first time I've built a complete bike and I'm pretty pleased with the result... it's a bike I intend to keep - since it's already retro in style, I don't think it will age.
Specification:
Condor World Series limited edition steel frame 55" - white/yellow
Campagnolo Veloce 10-speed silver groupset (I know the shifters are modern, but it wasnt' my intention to build a museum piece)
Wheels built by Harry Rowland: Mavic Open Pro rims, Sapin stainless spokes, Ambrosio Zenith hubs, Vittoria Open Corsa tyres
Deda 215 shallow drop polished bars, with Deda bar tape
Nitto Dynamic quill stem 100mm
Brooks Swift saddle, with Brooks Challenge tool bag (I'm hoping time will create a better colour match)
Condor polished seatpost
KMC gold 10-speed chain, gold cable-end crimps
Shimano 105 polished pedals
A couple of points on the build.
I know the shifters are modern, but it wasnt' my intention to build a museum piece; I want a modern functioning bike that has old school appeal (ditto the pedals; modern, but still elegant to look at). (For the bars, I removed the blue Deda branding with nail polish remover and a cotton bud.)
The bike came with yellow Cinelli leather bar tape, but I just didn't like it when applied, so I went for black (the new white?). It's wound from the stem, as Merckx did. I do this with all my bikes - there are no issues with the wraps opposing the hands (on the ramps) and it never comes loose... I think it's a much more elegant solution than finshing at the stem with sticky tape.
The bike is set up for me at 5'10".

I forgot to mention; total build cost was around £1300.00, with the frame being £550.00 (which included the headset, Cinelli leather bar tape and seatpost) and the groupset was £350.00.

Hi all,
I appreciate this is an old thread but maybe you are still around.
I have the 57cm Black and White Condor World Series bike that is currently set up as a single speed.
I am thinking of converting the bike also and was wondering how you got around lack of deralieur braze ons and cable guides etc?

Love it...I have a Condor bike that doesn't fit, bought as a part out, and it's really beautiful workmanship from what I can see. A brit.

Hi Ryan,
You can see from the photo that mine had (past tense... I sold it two years ago - it didn't ride as nice as it looks*) braze-ons on the down tube for the gear cabling and a hanger for the rear mech. I can only guess, from your question, that they did a single speed version without these.
*After selling this and building up a vintage Bottecchia and then a 1985 Colnago Nuevo Mexico, I've finished with vintage bikes and I'm now riding a Surly Crosscheck and a flat bar'd Velo Orange Pass Hunter - both of which ride like magic carpets, on low pressure 28c and 37c tyres respectively.
