can somebody tell me about Strawberry bicycles
just wondering about history and what a custom build from them typically costs just for a frame.
i remember seeing one in a coffee shop in downtown toronto, the lugwork was wonderful.

the only time other than this that i've heard of strawberry was this page, found while i was looking for pictures of smaller frames - https://velospace.org/node/22023

Andy Newland is a master builder and his frame sets start at around $1800.00 - $1900.00 which is often less than what many new builders charge for their work.
The workmanship is excellent and he is a really nice guy to boot.

Strawberry Racing Cycles was founded in the mid(?) 70's in Portland OR and is still a going concern. Andy's done some very avant garde lugwork and designed probably the best looking rear wishbone ever. In addition to building frames, Andy sells frame building supplies and machinery. Mark DiNucci, who worked for SRC back in the day moved on to do product design for Specialized and is now living in Sisters, OR and building very elegant frames under his own name.

Bah. You beat me to it. My daughter almost killed me a couple of years ago for not buying her a Strawberry Shortcake bike. The guy wanted $75 for the rusty thing.
Now that second picture, that's one of my favorite colors. It's not fillet brazed is it? I think I can see lugs there but I need a bigger screen. I could afford one, too if I'd stop buying bikes.

I met Andy at the Handbuilt bike show when it was in Portland a few years ago. He was selling tools and lugs in his booth and not frames. I would, like to have a Strawberry if I could find one in my size. Great designs. I may have a picture of his rear wishbone design somewhere..... should look for it. It is elegant indeed.

A friend of mine rides a Strawberry with the wishbone stays, converted to singlespeed. The workmanship is top notch and distinctive without being over the top.

Strawberry's been around since forever (I have one of their catalogs from about 1980). They're also the North American importers for Marcheti & Lange frame and fork fixtures, and market their own line of investment castings for frame builders.

My custom built Proctor uses a Strawberry wishbone stay... the rest of the bicycle was built here.
