That same Paramount PDG 3 was my first real road bike. One of the best handling and riding bikes I've ever owned. The stock wheels are garbage (I was replacing spokes regularly at 148lbs...), but once I threw a new wheelset on it, it came alive. I also "upgraded" to a Ritchey carbon fork (kept the original), and some slightly newer components. Mostly a mix of 105, Tiagra and Ultegra 9spd. The bike really came alive and was down to a respectable 18lbs or so.

So pretty. Very nicely done! What kind of shop has a Paramount frameset that sits idle that long? I wouldn't be able to resist- I'd rationalize that thing into the back of my car in a flash.

Huh. No wheel issues so far, and both Mr. Wompus and the previous owner aren't exactly whippet-thin. I agree with wanting to upgrade, though. It's a nice enough frame that even top tier group set would fit, but given both of our experience and capabilities, I think anything over 105 would be overkill. The carbon fork is an interesting idea, though....... hmmmmm.

What would be the chances of introducing you to my wife? Were I not already married, I'd be asking if you had a sister!

Be careful what you wish for. If your wife picks up the C&V bug, things could get...... expensive.

Thanks, Catty...

The LBS were I bought my frame still has an NOS 60cm? 1992 Paramount OS frame. It's very dark green, almost black.
