Sorry to read about your health challenges, but glad to know you're on the mend. Hoping to hook up with you some time when I come through T Bay. I generally pass through there once or twice a month, and once in a while, I end up with enough time to squeeze a ride in.

Great to hear that you are feeling better, obviously you are meant to stick around a while longer. Youll be on the bike doing what you love very soon, sounds like your in good spirits and honestly that might be the best medicine you could ask for.

Randy, I hope you recover swiftly. Thanks for the reminder that I'm not getting any younger (56) and need to clean out my garage of all the old bikes in there so that my kids don't have to do it after I'm gone.

Wow, they say 3's a charm, and since you're still posting, maybe they're right. 
Actually, your post hit close to home, in a way. I use a cane when I'm not riding a bike, due to having hardware in my knee, complicated by a bad infection in the OR, that nearly did me in. I'm still fairly young, 51, and it always feels like I'm going too slow, when I'm walking, so getting on a bike lets me feel more like I'm actually moving, LOL. Just take it easy, no need to set any land speed records, this is partly excercise, & partly FUN. 
Anyways, best of luck in getting healthy & mobile again.

Thanks to each of you for your kind thoughts but I was not seeking sympathy. The image my eyes came to rest on just amused me and, for what it is worth, reminded me that I should take each day as it comes, and strive to get the most out of that day. For those of you who went and hugged your loved ones, you got the message, just as I did when my kids and friends were hovering over my sick bed in the hospital.
This is the first day of the rest of my life and, boy, does that have greater meaning for me today!
The snow is melting and the Cyclops is ready - just have to install the handlebar tape. Two more weeks should see me and it, together, on the road. Listen for the sonic boom:-)
As for the walker - I do not need it now but, for a while, I could not get from one room to the other without it. That too, brings a smile to my mortal face.

5. "It's that beer."

8. "I'll bet your wife likes it better now that you stay home."
9. "Do you have your Road ID?"
10. and, from my best friends...."what are you gonna do with those bikes?"
Somehow, you'll realize they all care about you. You'll hear the jokes when you're riding and see buzzards, but eventually, things will get back to normal.
