I know this bike isn't c&v but it is steel, a lot of fun and this is the main forum I spend time at. Here is my first non c&v bike, a Van Dessel WTF (whiskey tango foxtrot). It's kind of a weird bike since it can be a fixed gear, a 29er, a touring bike, it can even have a belt drive. Anyway, I got to go with fellow forum member Barrettscv for a nice gravel, dirt, mud kind of ride this morning and it was a great time. This is my first bike with modern components and shimano at that, I'll have to do some research to learn how to keep it tuned.

That looks like a blast. The company is in NJ. I pass the place every Sunday when they're closed.

I'm fairly certain you won't get shot by hunters when you are riding through the woods.

Looks fun.

Luis, if someone asked me to visualize a bike for you, that would not be it. Thanks for keeping things fresh. It does look like tons of fun, and a righteous ride. How do you like them brifter things?

I wasn't shopping for a bike like this either but it came up for sale and it seemed like a good do it all alternative to all my vintage steel. The dura ace shifters are nice but I'm still getting used to them, I miss the thumb button of the campy 8 speed shifters I have on my Merckx. BTW nice orange Merckx.

Looks like a blast. I considered that frame when I was building my first disc crosser but couldn't find a good deal on a used frame. Ended up with a Soma and built it into my all weather commuter.

I have been building a dedicated monster cross / gravel grinder all winter and it is almost done. Doesn't quite have the tire clearance of that WTF though... What size tires are those / what size will it take?

+1

Love it.

Now I know how to not get shot up at the cabin during deer hunting season.

I'd paint my Bell Volt helmet hunter's orange and I would be good to go.

Seriously though, I think it is a cool bicycle.

That is sweet! I am currently obsessed with monster cross and just build a fillet brazed monster cross for myself. I'm going off to google land to research the $hit out of this.

Edit: It's pretty similar to a singular peregrine but with a steeper headtube angle and a little more tire clearance than the new crop. It's a little long in the top tube for drop bars. I would have to drop a size to get the right reach and run a scary long seat post... okay I guess. Nonetheless it is a very cool bike/concept. Please give us more impressions on the bike over time.

Awesome!! C&V is a state of mind, not just hardware, so you are good to go. I have been riding my steel crosser all winter and half of all my rides are on gravel, I am getting kind of obsessed with it and think I will probably make a vintage gravel bike.

Really nice... I powdercoated my Kona Explosif an unnatural shade of green and really like it.

Now I just have to build it up.

WTF indeed. That looks like a thousand bucks worth of post-hipster, ex-fixie, quasi-vintage, poseur fever dreams. I like it. Even has the Van******bag® font on the graphics. What was the name of that Van-something hat that all the cool kids had to be wearing for about 3 months back about ten years ago?

Anyway, you'd probably kick my ass on a gravel grind.

I got the bike complete but it was a good deal compared to the price of the frame alone. I'm running 35mm tires but it will take up to 52mm, I seriously doubt I'll ever get to 52's but I could see running 45's. 35mm were perfect yesterday, they got through the mud but they were still fast on the crushed gravel and regular pavement.

I wasn't familiar with the brand either. I like that it is a small american company although I don't know where the frames are being made.
