1986 Guiblato info please

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-1986-Guiblato

No luck on this post on the appraisal forum, but i am curious about these bikes in general as far as rarity and/or desirability from a rider standpoint. I am not trying to buy the bike in question to try and make a profit. I Just love the look of the bike and it fits me quite well, but the price for it is on the high side... i think.

anyone have experience with these bikes? how do they ride? any thing about them you didnt like? wierd or annoying designs?

Gomango has one. He might be able to help.

Gomango had one.

I sold the frameset a little over 6 weeks ago.

Another victim of my great vintage bicycle purge of the last seven months.

Really a pretty bicycle with above average frame details.

Paint was very nice!

It was built from Columbus SL, but was simply too small for any of the giants that live at our house.

My youngest son rode it once last summer and remarked that it handled like our last Colnago Super.

Came with a decent mix of Campy goodies that were nearly new. Most of them found their way onto my Croll project.

Nothing but positives from me.

Hey Raleigh Comp, you sound really smitten by this bike.

It happens and there is nothing wrong with that. Off-brand bikes are cool anyway, but honestly, it's Italian, it has an SL frame that fit's you perfectly, with a decent Campy drive-train, so what's not to like? If it is something you really like, then the price might be worth it to you. In the end, who cares if you pay $100 or so extra if it's a bike you really want? Your the one that is going to ride her, not anyone else. I love SL frames, and you can trust Gomango's opinion for sure on her ride.

So if you buy her, no regrets, just enjoy the ride!

You are right about me being smitten lol. but i talked to Gomango and he agreed asking price was definitely high. Seller is asking 950. I agree about paying a little extra to get what you want, but i have the feeling i could get something more common for a little cheaper of comparable quality.

...maybe i'll just come at the seller with 600 and keep on him. he is an older gentlemen from Macau, China, and gets a lot of his goodies from overseas i beleive. He actually has quite a few nice frames, mainly Italian. but this is his only older complete bike i saw. Most of his frame sets he is asking 500, so i doubt he'd part with a complete bike for 600.

There is a very well done repainted/ re-decaled orange DeRosa frame (also $500) there too that i am tempted to scoop up just have. it would make a nice long term high dollar project haha

I also agree, that price is to high.

For that money, I would say you could just about buy a nice high profile Italian like a Colnago or Tommasini, and for about $600, a whole world of other Italian beauties would be in your grasp to. It can't hurt to make the guy an offer though. It's tough to give up on a bike you really want.

Good luck!
