I have been on the lookout for a vintage road bike, and saw this ad a couple days ago. From what I have read this seems like a pretty decent deal. I emailed the guy and was told that the model is the "Sprint" which based on my research I am guessing is the 1000. It looks at though the stem / headset / handlebars are aftermarket, as I think these only came with drop bars and the stem / headset doesn't really look like it belongs on that bike. Supposedly it has new tires and rides / shift well.

Seems like a good deal to me, but I am not too versed in this stuff. The bike is either going to be rode as is, or possible converted to a fixed gear.

The subject bicycle is a late 1970s Sekai Sprint/1000. It was an upper, entry level model. The frame is hi-tensile, but based on the era, may be Tange, single butted. Crankset is a swaged, cotterless model, probably Sekai branded. Brakes are the ubiquitous Dia-Compe center-pull. Derailleurs are SunTour, probably model Sevens, given the era. Nutted hubs with 27" steel rims.

I'd say it was a fair price, if it had the OEM bars, stem and brake levers. Personally, the flat bar thing would be drawback for me. I'd want to get for this for $50 or less.

This should be moved to the identification and appraisals sub-forum, where you'll get more responses.

I think it's a good deal. If I had a bike like that, I would sell it for much more.
