Miele SV*
I was looking for some help in id'ing a miele model that I bought used back in 2005 (not sure the original vintage). Anyway, it used to have a decal that my bike carrier scraped off that begins with the letters "sv". Any guesses?
thanks,
Bruce

Welcome to the forums. Offhand, I don't recall anything with SV but having some pictures and knowing the components may trigger something.

Hi, the components are all Shimano RX100, I've attached a few pictures below. Maybe the SV**** was something previous owner had put on.

It might have said Sikkens, which was a name for the paint and/or the hardening process. As close as I can tell, it's very similar to the DuPont Imron thing, that Trek used. If you do a forum search for Invictus, you can find pics of mine, with that decal. Post back, if you can't find it, but it "should" be easy to find.

It appears to be a Miele Svelto. The only literature I have for it is 1993 (tretubi Cromor with Shimano Exage 500EX) but it appears to have existed for more than one year, as I found an online version with RX100, though it had downtube shifters. It's possible your STI is an upgrade or a later version. There may be a serial number on the back of the lower seat tube to help determine the year. Lacking that, you'll have to resort to the component date codes to try to determine the year.

What kind of shifters are on this bike? I dont see downtube, bar end, nor sti shifters. I can only see the 3 pics on post #4. Unless theres a tri/aero bar attached to it with the shifters connected to it.

Good point, I hadn't noticed the regular brake lever in the background and assumed they were STI, based on the cable stop/adjusters mounted on thee shifter bosses. I hope you're right about about aero bar and they haven't mounted stem or thumb shifters!

thanks for the help, I'm reattaching the pictures that didn't work for some reason, maybe they're too large so I will try only 2 at a time. I think you are correct that it used to say svelto from what I recall, it does have aero bars as I used it for triathlons

I have that bike! Different rear derailleur, though. The guy I bought it from said mine was a 1995. I don't know much about it.
