Ok so I'm really new to road bikes and would like to find out if I got a good deal on this bike if the components are any good and what year could this bike be?. I go it for $120 it looks like its a 56cm or bigger and all the components are shimano 105. I'm 5"8 so its a little big for me but I'll make it work. Here are some pics

If the wheels aren't bent, and everything works OK, that's a decent price for that bike. As you learn more about road bikes, you'll find that Shimano 105 components are sort of the gold standard for the "I want it to work properly and not cost a bundle" crowd. It doesn't look like the bike was used much; just neglected. Now go and clean it up.

Buy some hub cone wrenches and bottom bracket wrench and re-grease the wheels & bottom bracket, or take it your local bike shop and tell them you want it tuned up, which will usually run you $70-100, depending on what they have to do.

Your bike appears to be in good condition and should clean up well. $120 for a vintage 105 bike is a good deal, if it fit you. However, at 5'8" that bike is likely far too large for you to ride it comfortably. I'm a shade over 5'10" and I wouldn't want to ride it.

Well I put the seat down and it drives awesome and shifts great. I think I will give it a good bath and have a shop tune it and will try to run it. If its to uncomfortable I will probably flip it.

If he has long arms and long legs, he might find it fits OK. I'm only 6'0", but with my long limbs am most comfortable on a giant size 62-63cm frame, "French Fit" with only 3 or 4 inches of seat post showing. Still haven't met a top tube too long for me

Welcome to the forum. I think you did very well. The Sirrus from the late eighties is kind of under appreciated.

Based on the decals and the 105 components (105SC with dual pivot brake calipers) it looks to be the 1990 model. Check out this site for inspiration.

I have an '87 version in the same size as yours, which is a 58cm frame. I am 5'10" and I ride this bike quite comfortably.

Cool I really like this bike. Looks awesome. I think if I can't ride it ill just keep it as a decoration jaja. How can I find out what size this bike is? When I sit on the frame it's touching my crotch area but dont have to be on my toes or anything like that.

I just calles my local performance bike store and they change me $130 to completely detail the bike and service it. They said they have a special right now that they will take all derrailleurs off and cassets and everything else and put it on a special lube tank? What ever that means jaja but does that sound ok for a service and clean on a bike?

I'm no authority but I would be pretty tempted to pay someone $130 to detail a bike. Usually shops won't even clean a bike, they'll only get it working correctly. I bet you will see soon that there are two types of people around here: guys that do their own work and others that do the easy stuff and are OK with paying someone to do a little work. I'm not sure which one you are yet but I'm guessing the latter.

It's a lot for jobs you can do yourself but if your not mechanically inclined or lack the tools then it would be worth it. Does that include new cable and bar tape?

You probably also need new tires & tubes.

Yea I don't have any bike tools at the moment and not to familiar with them so would ratter pay someone to do a good job.

I tried adjusting my deraileurs on my 29er Fuji Tahoe and ended up breaking a hanger for not adjusting it right.

You could also try to find help from a local fellow BF member with tools, knowledge and time. Just saying.

I had a bike just like this a few years ago, only slightly bigger (and therefor too big for me). It was so fast that it was almost scary. I miss it.

As someone mentioned, these bikes are under-appreciated.

It's a durable, great-handling bike with good components, and should last for years!

A little oil here and there might get it rolling just fine, and the hubs are well-sealed and with a very age-resisting grease inside. At most they might need the ratchet oiled if it starts failing to engage when colder weather arrives.

The full servicing might or might not be what's needed, depending on if it covers any wheel trueing that the bike may or may not need. I would just tell them to tune it up as needed. I wouldn't want anyone submersing the derailer unless they were going to disassemble it and reassemble it with grease where it's supposed to be!

A Shimano bottom bracket will also have a very age-resisting grease in the bearings. Try moving the chain off of the chainrings and giving the crank a spin, and also check for rocking/looseness.

I might just apply oil to the seatpost and stem entries for now, depending on your storage climate and riding conditions.

Are the brake cables smooth, or have a gummy action? Might or might not need work.

Check for loose bolts, but don't just tighten the derailer's adjustment screws.

Not that some professional inspection isn't in order, and as was mentioned the tires and rim strips are likely in need of replacement.

Looks like a great score, you could have gotten a lot crappier bike for $120.

The bike is clearly mega-grungy and you don't have bike knowlege/tools, so spending $130 for a full cleaning/service sounds like a good deal to me. As long as it includes cleaning/repacking hubs, headset and bb. You'll probably want new tires, originals don't look great. I'd want to know fer sure what they'll do for $130, so you don't find yourself hearing "it's clean and detailed for $130, but you need to spend another $xxx to do yyyzzz.

If you're paying them for the work, they should be able to check the sizing for you, set the seat height, etc. Kinda tough for us to do that for you remotely, without seeing you with/on the bike, and there are varying opinions about fitting anyway.

I would think just the Groupset could be parted out for $120 on Ebay at the very worst and you didn't like the bike.
