1975 Paris Sport Road Bike
Hi there,
I recently picked up a 1975 Paris Sport Road Bike. The frame paint is chipping and I'd like to give the bike a new coat, however am quite keen on the Paris Sport branding. I am looking to learn if anyone here in the community knows where I can pick up some replacement Paris Sport decals. If not, I suppose I could trace what is on there and have a vinyl shop print out.
Thanks in advance.
Best,
JP

Fraysee was selling stuff on ebay, I forget his trade name. Someone here might know it. The seat tube graphics do not look like what I remember of the custom built bikes in the 70's. There is a chance you will have to recreate them all. Quite a few good builders went through the Paris Sport Custom shop.

"Paris Sport" was the house brand for the Fraysee's bike shop. Only the high end frames were made at the Paris Sport custom shop in New Jersey. The rest were mass produced under contract with various French factories. It's hard to tell what the OP's bike is (close ups and drive side pictures would be helpful) but I'm not thinking its one of the high end models from the custom shop.

Some great builders worked there. I believe Francisco Cuevas made frames there for a while?

Thanks for the responses. This particular bike was not built by Paris Sport in NJ, but instead is one of the rebranded bikes imported from France. The decals and parts on this pike tell me that it is made by Starnord, a small bike manufacturer from northern France. It has a Huret derailer and Solida crank. If anyone has any further information on the bike, that'd be awesome. I am trying to learn as much about the history as I can, although there is very limited information out there.

We'd need shots from the drivetrain side, and close-ups of the dropouts to provide more opinion. But, even if it's gaspipe, it's gaspipe with some pretty cool mojo and decals!

Mike Fraysse is a seller on ebay, under the really inventive handle of "mike_fraysse". Try asking.

It isn't a higher-end bike, and the paint, at least from your picture, looks pretty nice. Don't re-paint that...

Yeah from the components I realize that it is not a higher-end bike. The paint looks better in the pic than it actually is, however I may decide not to paint it. I definitely need to clean her up and upgrade some of the components. I'll see how she looks at that point and decide what to do. I am surely not going to paint the frame if I cannot get reproduction Paris Sport decals made...

Why not strip all components and fasteners from the frame and OA bathe it? Then neutralize and wash, touch up and wax. The fun will be searching for a compatible touch up paint. Having two daughters, I've found that most finishes can be matched by blending today's exotic fingernail polish colors. In all likelihood, the resulting frame will come out pretty nicely.
