I've not seen these hubs before, and they look to be either very early freehub/cassette design, or conventional hub/freewheel. This may impede future upgrades to the gearing if it's an early freehub design.

The Deore LX and Exage hubs are about 10 years newer, and IMHO, better. The rear freehub uses a standardized Shimano design, and can be upgraded, and repaired.
And can use new Hyperglide cassettes.
The reason the Deore LX hub didn't fit is due to the 130 or 135mm axle spacing, compared to your frame's 126mm spacing. The Adamas Ax hub was released when road bike spacing was 126mm.
You can still use the Deore LX freehub with a little modification. You can change to a shorter axle, or cut the original one to the appropriate length, and replace that 10mm spacer on the non-drive-side of the hub with a 5mm spacer.
Thanks WNG! for the detail explanation. That give me a more clearer picture of the hubs differentiation.

The chrome build up on the crown race area of the fork may impede the installation of the race itself. In other words now the crown race may not be 26.4, how much more? Measure it and see. You may have to have the fork crown area refaced, but some shops won't do this because chrome is very tough and tears up milling/cutting bits. My chrome shop knows not to chrome past the fork crown, they tape off the area before it goes into the chrome tank.
The fork ends need to be parallel, this can be done on a tool such as a Park FFG-2.

Instructions on how it is used.

Recently...was lucky enough to sourced a pair of rims. Though it's tubular but I think I can live with the hassle of maintenance part.

Done the polishing job over the last weekend. A dude was suggesting me to use pantyhose to keep rubbing 'em

Well, am satisfied with the result anyway...Next is to get the spokes up and the wheel build will complete. I am happy that the bike finally reaching the assembly stage...can't wait to get her done and feel my first ride

Congratulations! It's been a lengthy journey, but you're finished.
Looks good! That Shimano aero stem is beautiful, and rare.

Congrats on the build. It looks to be a very nice bike, how does it ride? Was it worth all the trouble? You certainly learned a lot through the whole process.

Thank you....yes...it's really a lenghthy journey...but with determination, I manage to finish it now.
Parts were source everywhere across Asia even to Sydney. The stem was gotten from Sydney and it comes along with the ALPS drop bar which I purchased at $40.

Thank you for the compliment....the ride was fantastic...But i still want it to be tune as the index shifting isn't perfect. It is set on friction now went out for a few spin and getting the geometry right.

I have just send the bike over to a friend to help on polishing and waxing and perhaps some conditioning on the saddle, bar tape and brake lever hood. The final touch would be the application of the decals...

The lesson journey is priceless, i met fantastic people around the region to shared about my passion to get the bike up...obtained good advice, experience, the yesteryears bike technology

The total cost of this restoration is hovering at MYR3000 (approximate USD950). And I am very sure the modern bike will not gives me the feeling I am having right now

the waiting is finally over...

Introducing my Gitane 80's, with Shimano 600 components.

I am so glad and satisfied with the result so far......the hunt will only continues (Shimano 600 Crankset) if I am not satisfied with the current Sugino

Bike looks outstanding to me! With paint chips you can fill them with a touchup brush with the same paint you used on the bike. Then very gently wet sand and polish but you have to fill the chip hole so the paints higher that the paint around it.
