I think I finally found my wife a bike. Raleigh Sport
After I bringing home around 6 different bikes for her to try including a really nice Fuji I wish was my size, she seems rather taken with a Raleigh Sports I bought home. If the hub date is to be believed it's a '61 model. Pictured here after grease, tires, chain and cables with a quick make some stuff appealingly shiny wipe down. It now needs a full clean and polish although the full thing may just have to wait until the winter. It rides amazingly well, and I hope she likes it after trying it.
The Raleigh Sports model has another fan and I'm tempted to find one in my size

It's lovely. See this article on why these are great bikes.
I suggest changing the rear sprocket with something bigger such as 22T to lower all the gears. This will necessitate a new chain, since the old one won't be long enough.
Nice work on the bike! And yes, the decals do look like the 1961 period.

My wife's favorite bike is her 1970 Raleigh Colt (smaller frame size than the Sports) She likes it well enough we bought a second one that almost matches my Superbe.
I also agree that the decals look right for a 1961.
