WTB brake levers that would be comparable to originals

I have a '77 Raleigh Supercourse. Does anyone have brake levers that would have come on it originally, or something comparable? Not looking for anything fancy -- just want to get rid of the newer looking shimanos on there now with the cables run through the bar tape. I'd like to run the cables over the top like they did when the bike came originally. I've seen some that are just metal, no plastic on the hoods. That would be preferable. If you have anything you think would work, please send photo or two, one with the hoods off or peeled back.

thanks!

a '77 SC came with Weinmann 610 centerpulls and the "lightened" levers (probably drilled and with QR) had cream-colored hoods. Hoods might have read "Carlton", maybe not.
If somebody can verify exactly what the levers looked like, I bet I have a pair for you (but no hoods).

Really sorry, guys. Meant to post this in the sales thread. My brain must be fried.
Unworthy, if you look at the link posted there, that's as much as I know about the original SuperCourses. If you have something even REMOTELY like them, PM me?

I looked in the Sales thread but didn't find anything by you...I got my info from that '77 catalog page on Sheldon's site that rootboy links to, and can't tell from that one pic which style of Weinmann lever it is: there are about 3 with different kinds of QR that I have come across, and I have no idea when they were made, or what Raleigh used on this year/model.
I guess I can show you pics of the ones I have but then how will you know which is the right one?

Is there a compatibility issue? I'm just looking for the same basic style, to be honest. As long as they work on the bike, fit the bars, look something like the original ones, and are in reasonably good shape, I'm in.

OK, that makes it easier. I'll shoot pix of the ones I have.
The only compatibility issue is with the actual bands that grip the bars, they can be for either 7/8" or 15/16" diameter, IIRC, and will work with the same bodies and bolts.

while I'm waiting to take pix, I may as well take a little thread hi-jack:
I can think of a few variations of Weinmann lever, but Velobase doesn't have much hard data about model numbers or timelines:

There was the type with a red alloy push button (probably early)

one with a "flipping wedge", same silver color as the blade (and probably later)...blades used with this "wedge" could be several different styles like with a fine mesh cross-hatch, round holes or oval slots.

and one with a "sideways-flipping piece" that was spring-loaded...this may have been a DiaCompe innovation but I seem to have seen it on genuine "W"s, too. Came in different colors anodized: silver, red, yellow.

Can anybody add to this?

It would be nice to get a complete timeline of Weinmann levers up on Velobase, given all the variations.

My bars have a 23.88 diameter, measured with a fair margin for error since i was using a seamstress type tape measure.

sorry to be so late with this, but I've been out of action for some days.
Here's pix of 3 of the Weinmann (and DC) levers I have, but I might have one or 2 more if I get in a deeper search,
The crustier ones have the "flip-up" style QR and mesh-embossed levers, the DiaCompe have the "sideways-flip" QR and same pattern levers, the ones with slotted punch-outs in levers have no QRs...I think the crusties can be cleaned and polished to look presentable.
Any and all can be had pretty darn cheap, so PM me if interested, but I may be slow responding and slow to get pix of more examples.
Also: the slotted levers have pivot pins from "turkey legs" but I can lose those and swap in regular pivot pins, maybe even red ones.

PM sent. Definitely interested, but don't understand the jargon.

I have lots of Weinmann levers, and probably exactly what you need. Send me a PM.
