It looks like the seller paid top dollar for all the components.

Smells fishy. Or if it's legit, the guy is too foolish to be trusted building a bike I'd pay that kind of money for.

Richard Sachs spent quite a bit restoring two circa 1971 Masi Gran Criteriums, this included having the complicated first generation graphics recreated. (Thanks for that Richard, as it allowed my bike to be restored correctly much later).
He sold off one of them if I remember and stated he had about 7k in one, the bike was built up with all NOS bits purchased in a time when ebay and website sales were not ready for prime time, so costs may not have been as low as possible.
The bikes were stunning and almost perfect recreations.
He sold one to the best of my recollection for $5k.

Restoring bikes concours perfect is rarely a moneymaking venture.

Advising the money spent advises the urge to get it done fast damn the expense, the naivety of the owner or the need to impress that cute young thing at the coffee house.

Yeah, I'm not really sure why he goes into so much detail about how much he has into it. Maybe he tried selling it before saying it has $7K of parts and no one believed him?

Yes. Sad to see that alloy head set pitted as well. If it is/was NOS, they must have some awfully caustic air where he lives.

Amateur bar taping job, too.

This has got to be a joke. Either that or the guy is looking for a sucker; there is so much wrong here it hurts my eyes. I doubt if there is one piece on that bike that was NOS within the past couple of years. Not only is the headset pitted, but so too the bars and stem. RD shows signs of use and of being dropped as well. Note there are no close-ups of the pedals - hmmm...I wonder why? And first-generation Super Record seatpost? More like final generation. This guy needs to do some studying!

If he paid all that for those used parts, well, it just goes to show that PT Barnum was right

To top it all off, as repechage notes: wide of the mark as regards restoration. Waaaay wide.

Despite all the negatives the guy has started the bidding at 2k with, from what I can see, no reserve. So it is possible, maybe even likely someone will get this for 2k or just over.

It's on my watch list

$2k for an incorrectly-restored Super? With only a few panto bits? I'd pass. Check completed listings for the good ones before you drop $2k or more on this one - you'll be glad you did.

He'd be very lucky to get 1K$. As depressed as the Spanish market is he wont get a bid at all. Ed

The general trouble with projects like this is that in order to appreciate a bike like this, you probably have the ability to build a bike like this, and wouldn't pay someone else for all the fun. Thinking that you'll ever get your money back is misguided.

Not defending it but your logic doesnt work as the bike is for sale worldwide, not just in spain.

The seller has a number of bicycle items for auction, I think is offer price on a number of them is ambitious and they are written in a confusing way.
I am sure english is not his primary language, and my spanish would be very crude so I should not toss stones. It is a lesson though to keep it simple.

Oh no, I would never actually buy a bike like this..I'm just curious to see who would.

I build my own, that is more than half the fun.
