I kinda' like the lights in the bar ends. Probably be better if they were red.

I have seen several sets of red ones on bikes rolling, no clue what brand. My 1984 Dahon folder has red reflectors in the end of the bar grips.

They'll always fit perfectly because you can bend them if they don't. You have to break one of the pieces off of a plastic one for thicker bar wrap and I've always spent time looking for the chromed steel ones before the internet solved that problem. I've used some screw tightening plugs with cotton wrap though.

Just wanted to thank everybody for all the great suggestions. Finally settled on some aluminum ones like those suggested on page 1.

If you do a search in the eBay cycling section, you will find a wide range of options for bar-end plugs -- including the Nittos, Somas, Cinellis, Brooks, etc.

These are not made by Nitto; these are Taiwan-made knock-offs, like most of the Bicycle Larpist equipment sold by compass.

They look like decent plugs, but did they really need to use the blue color to try to get that Nitto vibe going so feverishly?

Well, I may stand corrected about where the bar end plugs come from, but their racks, stems bottle cages and handlebars come from Nitto in Japan, and their fenders, bells and most of their tires come from Japan. The SKF BBs they sell, and all the dynamo lighting they sell, come from Germany. The bags they sell come from France. And their tire savers come from good ol' USA .

In fact, only a few of their Grand Bois components come from Taiwan, namely their hubs, cranks and now bar-end plugs. Maybe I missed a few things...

No one is bashing Larpists; I'm thankful that they exist. The fact that there are ppl on Earth who find the time and inclination to Larp actually kinda brightens my day.

As for Compass components.... you're right; their Bicycle Larping equipment represents some knock-offs (and even some real stuff) from around the world. But, really, those ridiculous cranks are what inspired me to coin the term "Bicyle Larpist" to begin with.** (Although, to be fair, Rivendell is way more Larpy than Compass is, overall....)

Egads.

-rob

** See also "reenactment cycling"; not my term, but totally applicable.
