Palo Alto Bike Build Photos

A month or so ago, I asked for and received some great advice from BF C&V as I embarked on my first ground-up build. And, after logging countless hours reading through hundreds of archived threads, my "new" bike is now complete! Though I don't really post much, I feel like this bike is also half owned by C&V. This forum is an incredible wealth of information.

I still plan to add VO fenders and a nice rack set. Anyway, on to the photos! -John

Nice build, and bike!

Since you live in Chicago, hope to see you at the Annual Classic Ride! Here's some info:
How about another lake front ride this coming Saturday, (02 Nov 13)? The forecast is for 50 degrees and sunny, which may be as good as it gets for the rest of the year.....

Either meet at our place, or at the Foster Beach House, and ride to the bottom of the path and back? We can go for a post-ride burger and beer at Moody's Pub? It may be too cold to sit outside, but we could still use their courtyard to stow our bikes and keep an eye on them from inside....

Leave my from my house at 1000? Foster Beach House at 1020? North Ave. Chess Pavilion at 1045?

And, also posted on BF.

Looking good!
I too would like to see the specs on your build i.e. wheel size, and what are those tires? (guessing Rivs?).

Cheers,
Chris

Ah - of course!

The frame is a late 70s/early 80s Palo Alto bike shop branded Biemmezeta. An Italian manufacturer with Columbus tubing. I picked it up at a bike swap in St. Louis.

Wheels are 700c Weinmann concave rims with Shimano hubs. Crankset is an Ofmega CX 52-42 (I have a 32 ring but it won't fit with the current Campagnolo BB. I acquired those items as well at the same bike swap. SunTour NOS Power Shifters (local eBay) SunTour Cyclone MKII FD and SunTour Luxe V-GT long cage RD. Campagnolo brake levers and Mafac Racer centerpulls. Those items were found after sifting through boxes at the Working Bikes Coop in Chicago. Others: Advocet II headset, LaPrade seatpost, Selle Italia seat and Ambrosio handlebars.

And those tires, they are the Jack Browns, and boy they are a dream to ride. Highly recommend if you can fit them! Thanks for the comments, the bike is a really great ride.
