Pre- and post- CPSC versions of the Campagnolo Record FD?

Question for those of you that have access to both pre- and post- CPSC versions of the Campy Record front derailleurs available for comparison... Do the lips that they added in 1978 effectively reduce the width of the cage when compared to one of the earlier models, or is the effective width the same (with it just being shaped a bit differently)?

Despite my best efforts to fix it myself, the big ring on my Fuji is still a bit funky, and as a result I end up doing an inordinate amount of trimming with my late Record FD on there. Wondering if switching to an earlier derailleur would make things a bit more "roomy" down below?

Measuring mine at the bridge that joins the cage plates to the actuating arm, clearances between the inner faces of the plates are:
pre-CSPC Nuovo Record: 10.4 mm
"lipped" Super Record: 11.1 mm
Trust this helps,
Les

I've found that the post-CPSC units can have clearance issues with low Q-factor arms like the TA Pro-5 vis.

Yes, even with the later lipped cage (post CPSC) when paired with earlier Campagnolo crank arms can interfere unless the adjustment is great.
