Shifter compatibility

Are there any 8-9 speed SIS down tube shifters that are compatible with the Shimano bosses like the one below?

No. But you can alter the boss to accept them. There's another thread out there now that addresses this question.

AH the beloved shimano shifter boss...... If your handy with a dremel tool it is likely simpler to look for some index barend shifters and modify the cable stops. Do you have the funky screws? If you haven't discovered that they are 4.5 mm and not the standard 5 mm I won't ruin the surprise by telling you.

There is a nice thread or two about modifying the cable stops, try words like shimano boss Raleigh and Wyoming all together.
