I have consumed (last night) my last beautiful Belgian ale until I drop at least 10 pounds. This will surely mean all of January at a minimum.
Very sad.

Sorry to hear that. Aren't you overdoing things a bit? When I saw you in October you couldn't afford to lose 10 pounds without becoming just skin and bones.

HAHA!! Funny, non fixie! No, the "overdoing it" was between October and now. I rewarded myself for all my summer training...a lot...with hop and barley based beverages. I've been riding, but it's hard to spend 8 hours on the bike in this weather, and the intake/output imbalance has shown.
If there's one thing I've learned it's that you can out-eat and out drink any exercise or sporting event you've trained for in about 1/10th the time it took to prep for it.

I just can't ride it day-in and day-out on these gravely, wet roads, and in fact only take it out occasionally on sunny days. I'd definitely appreciate suggestions, thinking about a Raleigh Grand Prix or perhaps even a mountain bike with skinnier tires...in short I need to find a way to make #1 happen.

I am not really making resolutions, I never keep them. I am determined to loose weight, ride more and rid myself of lots of unused clutter this year. I am not setting goals like a size 4 by easter or anything like that but if I can get to spring and last years shorts fit a little loose I'll consider things a success. On the clutter front any interest in a ......

Wow. Great stuff, Pogue! I don't do resolutions, but if I did, to draw more might be a good one. Cripes but it's been too long since I picked up a pencil or brush.
Very nice work.

Eat better
wrench more
ride more
get back to my regular exercise program that fell by the wayside about 6 months ago.
Though I tend not to do resolutions either. I like to start in on them a couple weeks ahead, so as to avoid the stress of the "resolution".

#1 . Priority! Find new employment as my current post is now redundant - I'm applying like mad at present but still awaiting positive responses.
2. Hopefully get a job within riding distance and cycle commute to & from work.
3. Thin the herd a little, gain some space. Sell the hybrid and the Specialised Hard Rock I never use, finish the Dawes fixie and decide whether to keep that or not, build up and sell a dozen or so MTB's from a pile of frames that just take up space.
4. Worry less, learn to relax more and enjoy the present.
5. Tidy those tools!

2 pieces leather sewn up with linen thread and glued to a pair of Weinmann levers.
it matches to a '60s Agda saddle he also reconditioned for me.

To stop acquiring bikes that are difficult to sell at my cost after I overhaul them.

Thanks, all, for the kindly compliments. I've been debating pulling some digital prints of the various bike drawings-- they're usually done when I'm stuck on something I'm supposed to be working on. Might pull a small handful and take them to Westminster this year.
I also make resolutions I can keep easily, like keeping the studio a mess.
Nothing bike related, as I have no idea whatsoever what is coming to me this year.

I'm not much for resolutions or keeping them but....
1. Find more time to ride and spend less time wrenching on bikes that are a lost cause financially.
2. Reduce my herd and sell my Ross Signature and Bridgestone Mtn bike that I just don't ride enough.
3. Get more active on eBay and CL to downsize on bike parts and other items around the house.
