MTB what've I got? Diamondback Racing Ritchey Logic Prestige team(?) frame
Hi All, I picked this DB Racing frame up yesterday. Would like to see if anyone has more info.
The seller bought it from someone who said it was a team bike. As far as I can tell from Google, the all-red paint scheme isn't something that was available to the general public. Serial no. here is 88L3937. The 1996 Axis used Prestige tubing, but it had a red/blue/yellow paint scheme. And the logo on this frame looks a few years earlier.
It was fitted with an Answer Accu-trax fork, which may help with in the year ID. I think Yeti sold rights to Answer in 1992(?). Anyway, it would be great if anyone has more info on this particular frame. Thanks!

I got the fork too; you can just see a tiny piece of the brake boss (black) bottom left in the first pic. Wasn't going to let an Accu-trax fork get away.
Weird thing about the fork--the crown race was essentially press-fitted onto a piece of electrical tape wrapped around the fork. Not very well either, it would just spin when I turned it. I peeled the tape off and the crown race is a good bit too big. It's a Ritchey headset, which should use a 26.4mm race, as far as I know. But it looks like this one is 27mm, so it has a good bit of play. Not sure why this would be. Something I can ask in the mechanics forum, but I'm wondering if I can just get a new 26.4 crown race and use it with the existing headset or if a whole new headset is needed. Either way, I'll get the Answer fork mated back up with this frame.

Cool frameset. Can't help you with more info, though. My 1988 Diamondback Apex uses a JIS headset (27.0mm crown race) so maybe that frameset came with a JIS headset and that is not the original fork.
