Campagnolo Super Record clamp on dt shifters
Just had a quick question.
I have a pair of these and someone was asking me if they took the shifter parts off of the clamp on mount will it work like normal on a brazed on mount on a down tube.
this is what it looks like:

No actually, many of the parts will work but you will not have enough bits. If you drill apart the bosses from the clamp you can harvest the aluminum "stop" plates BUT you will need the thick metallic or nylon washer that is used on the braze on configuration and not needed with the clamp on style as this region is part of the unplated "boss" part of the clamp.
As these are pretty rare, (not followed by an escalated price, but uncommon) with the clamp using the aluminum stop plates without the cable guide... I would suggest looking for real braze on shift lever assemblies. Those thick plated steel or nylon backing washers are hard to come by now, they used to be stocked by many a shop that sold Campagnolo... as the bore is 10 mm I think they got lost over the years and used as rear hub spacers. 40 years ago as braze on parts sets were uncommon and guys would often find they had nearly all parts existing on their full Campagnolo everything banded on mahine.. we drilled downtube clamps apart all the time. But we had the special washers...
