1973 Fork Resto
So I got the beige Mercier cleaned up, turns out it was canary yellow....took the better part of 2 days to get the grime off, nothing worked except the spray bottle of bug and Tar removal for cars, a foaming product, my new best friend.... I soaked the French Crank and rear stay in oxalic acid over the weekend, great results except the front fork chrome , half chrome , the other half ( the top) rusted thru, I am thinking of painting it black, its only about 5 inches of chrome, half of it is gone already, soak the chrome in Muriatic acid maybe? kind of a rat rod bicycle, I am putting it back together with new wheels etc see how it rides, I can dismantle again next winter to do a new paint job ( or not)
