Zeni, thanks!

BTW, if anyone has a 22" Super Sport they want to sell, Top506 has a 24" he'll trade to me.

Mine has a hex nut head on the top of the binding bolt. The ebay one has a recessed Allen wrench head. Small difference. I believe mine was missing the bar binding bolt, so what you see is something stainless I picked up at ACE.
I won this stem on ebay in preparation for my next fillet brazed project. Perhaps if I acquire all the parts my Superior or Sports Touring frameset will fall in my lap. I love the Technomic on my 87 SS. This is kind of like a "Schwinn Approved" Technomic.

Von, that's great and you are correct. Size wise those stems are close to the Technomic. Finish wise, not so close!

Michael, thanks for considering, but for this project I'm looking for a man's frame. Nice looking SS! Very classy.

I bet it will polish up nicely with some Semichrome polish.

If you snagged that stem off ebay just recently, then it was me that you got it from! And, if I recall, you picked it up for a nice price. Which was fine with me, since (I think) I got it from a Seattle bike shop, for free!

Small world...glad it is going to a good home.

I don't know if this is the stem you are talking about, but somebody bought this one for $0.99, cleaned it up and resold it for $19.30. These are the same stem, I had found both auctions when searching for examples to post here!

That still a good deal for a unique stem, and those GB made stems really polish up nicely. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

What is it about the Technomic ( or similar) that people like? Just curious as I'm not familiar with them.

Tall stems for old men with stiff backs who still like to ride bikes with dropbars.

Dang!
I was the dumb-a$$ who did not bother to clean it up, and let it go for 99 cents!
Oh well, live and learn, I guess...

1. Anything polished up does better on ebay, buyers have no imagination.

2. Don't start an auction at 99 cents. I used to do it myself, until I sold a new with tag leather coat for 99 cents. I also lost about $15 on the shipping.

3. Second buyer did fine. Figure buyer #1 with shipping had about $7.50 into it. Then spent an hour or two polishing it up, more time to create a listing, ebay got their cut, and it sold for $20.

This is funny. All 3 of us on the same thread in the CV forum. Are there just a relatively few us that keep buying and selling all the remaining C&V components.

Here is my supersport. Campus green, My favorite.

Frame was just a tad to short for road bars so I made it my comfy cruiser! Up graded the wheels slightly with Campy Tip LG flange hubs with NOS Wolber touring rims and DT spokes. I went with the Suntour rear derailleur and suntour freewheel with Sram chain. Rides like a dream. A friend told me that I could get better shifting using a thumb shifter but how can someone with good conscience not use the twin sticks!

I thought I bought it from 67 tony but he was the one who sold it for 99 cents. Where is the seller who made the big profit on me? I am pleased with my purchase though. It seemed like a good deal at the time. If I could only find a Superior to hang it on.

I still have this sports tourer I got as part of a package deal picking up another CL bike. Turns out this is the only image I have of it (have since gotten it rideable, but still needs work). Not sure what I'll end up doing with it, but this thread has me looking at it differently.

There is a 22" green 1971 Super Sport on the local Craigslist today. I went and had a look. It wasn't the one for me, but it wasn't a basket case, thought others might like to know...

Since this thread has been revised, I thought I'd post an updated photo of "Sporty" my '72 Super Sport. Recently I swapped out the original stem for a longer one and went back to the original bars. I also swapped the Sachs Huret Eco Duopar RD for a @HenryIII custom long cage Nuovo Gran Sport. Been riding it a lot this spring and summer.
