I think the weight thing can get a little over-rated. The fillet-brazed Schwinns are extremely stiff frames- they don't seem to flex much, so I always found that I could accelerate easily on them. Could be my imagination, but they seem to ride really well too. If I ever go over to Italy, I'm tempted to bring one.

I guess I'll add my Super Sport to the mix, this one is a 72, original paint, but new running gear. This one is very comfortable, one of my favorite bikes.

I don't (although the one I have is carefully stored away).

I'm pretty sure Scottryder kept the B-15 and seatpost when he sold me the bike.

My original Brooks was stolen while my SS was parked on the UT campus back in the late 70's. It now wears a Brooks Flyer.

Selle Anatomica X saddle on mine. Still have the original B-15 but needs new leather from being left sitting outside and untreated for 35+ years.

The photo is an older one, taken in the "Bicycle Museum" on the third floor of my house. The two bikes on the left are 26'' Sports Tourers, which I still have. Over the last couple of years I sold off the Varsity, Continental, two Sprints and the Le Tour.
I need to take separate shots of the Tourer's, so once the snow goes away I'll take them outdoors and do it.
I'm down to about thirty five bikes now in all (1934 Rollfast to a 1998 Fuji Team), so something had to give. Miss them, but you can'e keep them all...

B-15 is on my 72, it's the same one that came on my 71 when I bought in new. Been using that saddle for 43 years now.

I still have the B-17 that came with my Sports Tourer, but it was in really rough shape- going flat. The leather otherwise seemed OK. I treated it with a mess of Red Wing mink oil and put some string around the nose to try to get it to re-assume its former shape. In the meantime I installed a Brooks Pro on the Sports Tourer. After about 6 months or so, the B-17 was able to hold its shape again (though not so well as original) and I installed it on my Paramount. Its quite comfortable and may well find its way back to the Sports Tourer.
My ST was equipped with a steel seatpost, which got replaced with a Laprade, as I needed the set-back. Is the steel seat post a stock item or did someone install that before I got the bike?

^^ It does not work so well with a Brooks saddle, which has a limited ability to be moved on its rails compared to other saddles. Once I replaced the seatpost, things came right around.

The Sport Limited was made in late '77 only. If you remember we found from the headbadge stamp that yours was made on Monday Sept. 12th 1977. A rare model not in any catalogs!
Here's mine...
I picked this one up last fall. It was actually one of my grail bikes as I like strange things, especially if there is a story behind their existence...

1974 SS, generic flip/flop rear. xtr, mavic open sport on front, stock brakes, albtross bars with cork grips, ideale 80 seat (hard as a stone). Bike was rescued from the side of a bike flippers house. He deals in cheap bikes on CL and He did not know what this one was, thought it was like a varsity. Has SKS fenders on it now. Thinking of doing a three piece conversion. Any suggestions.

Okay--- so the creative juices have been flowing and simmering overnight. 
I've been working with Sailorbenjamine on a purchase of a set of Strumey Archer drum brake hubs and a Super Sport frame would be the perfect candidate for this build. So, since this is the place where fillet brazed is loved and appreciated, maybe someone has been holding onto a 24" frame in neglected condition and would be willing to part with it. Just need the frame, or frame and fork (with headset). PM or email me through my website. Thanks!

Start with this....
Add lots of $$$, patience, and time, to end up with this....
Or, spot one of these on CL, listed only as "Old Schwinn...."
...and spend hours, cleaning, polishing, rebuilding, customizing, and a few $$, when it started out looking mostly like this....
So after hours of loving labor, it has lots of nice patina, history, and a sweet rebirth....
IIRC, the geometry on '60s & '70s Schwinn fillet brazed frames never changed, so they all basically ride the same, which I have to say is really nice, especially for a hefty guy like me. So if you find a FB frameset in need of painting or PCing as a blank canvas for your project, that's a perfect time to make frame modifications.
I didn't think to do this when I built "Sporty." I now wish I had at least had the kickstand tube removed and a chain stay bridge added. It would have also been possible to replace the stamped dropouts for forged at the time. We did take off the down tube cable stops in order to add the shifters.
Best of luck on your hunt, but consider the possibility of creating your own FB Superior.
