The cophenhagen wheel
This is definitely one of the coolest inventions for cycling! Take a look at the "youtube"video! Would put this on your vintage or classic rider?

Andy Botwin certainly thought so.

This has been making the rounds of the internet for quite a while now and the objections that have been voiced elsewhere are numerous. The biggest issue I see is that it's totally unusable unless you're also willing to pay for a smartphone.

Yeah, this old chestnut seems to return here every 4 - 6 months. I think it's very cool, but to answer the OPs question, I wouldn't put it on any of my C&V bikes that I actually liked. Why mess up a good thing? If I met someone who had one of these, I would ask them let me ride it.

any actually shipping out yet. ? or the same promo vid of a prototype sample pops up ,again.

Now, no. When I become less-abled as I grow old, sure. |

Another aspect that I don't like is having the battery internal to the wheel. Not only does it add unnecessary rotating weight, but it makes it impractical to size the battery to the uses of a particular rider. I'd like the option of a smaller, lighter battery if I have a short commute (esp. with option to recharge there), or a large heavy battery when planning longer rides. The option to quickly switch batteries would also be nice so one could keep one charged up and always ready to go. |
Geez, what a bunch of curmudgeons you guys are! I think it looks brilliant. I'll never use one because I don't own a cell phone or do anything that involves an ap. But c'mon, it's pretty neat. I'd love to see one in action.

i feel like this would diminish the sense of accomplishment i get after a long ride.
