This is definitely one of the coolest inventions for cycling! Take a look at the "youtube"video! Would put this on your vintage or classic rider?

This has been making the rounds of the internet for quite a while now and the objections that have been voiced elsewhere are numerous. The biggest issue I see is that it's totally unusable unless you're also willing to pay for a smartphone.

22% of the world population has a smartphone anyway and that number goes up in more developed nations, 61% of the US population now has smartphones.

Yeah, this old chestnut seems to return here every 4 - 6 months. I think it's very cool, but to answer the OPs question, I wouldn't put it on any of my C&V bikes that I actually liked. Why mess up a good thing? If I met someone who had one of these, I would ask them let me ride it.

Now, no.

When I become less-abled as I grow old, sure.

How many of them want to have it strapped to the handlebar mount even when going for rides in inclement weather? It does seem rather silly for the design to rely so much on the phone.

Another aspect that I don't like is having the battery internal to the wheel. Not only does it add unnecessary rotating weight, but it makes it impractical to size the battery to the uses of a particular rider. I'd like the option of a smaller, lighter battery if I have a short commute (esp. with option to recharge there), or a large heavy battery when planning longer rides. The option to quickly switch batteries would also be nice so one could keep one charged up and always ready to go.

Geez, what a bunch of curmudgeons you guys are! I think it looks brilliant. I'll never use one because I don't own a cell phone or do anything that involves an ap. But c'mon, it's pretty neat. I'd love to see one in action.

I'm inclined to think it would be a wash, at least with the right attitude. The CW is limited in its amount of boost and has a weight penalty. No matter what bike I hop on, I end up riding at my limit, so it would just be a slightly faster/longer version of that.
