Going for the record this a.m. in St. Paul.

We are at -16 degrees. The record is -17.

Time to brew a fresh pot of coffee, as I refuse to go outside.

First signs of spring. I did a 200k brevet yesterday and the weather was mid 40s to low 50s. We got lucky because Friday was low 30s and today's forecast is for t-storms.

According to my iPhone it is 32 and cloudy at the moment but it will be snowing at noon. The area is expecting somewhere between 0 and 50" of snow later today and into tomorrow which stinks. After a three day administrative leave I have to ride with a trainer tomorrow and if it is snowing the lazy bum is very likely to call off.

I dropped off my truck at the body shop a week ago and rented a Mustang convertible. Naturally, it's been cold and wet ever since.

-18F this morning but no wind so the morning walk with the dog was not too bad. We're supposed to get to 2F today and after a -17F overnight tonght, it actually might stay above 0F for the next few days. A real heat wave!

Some places never change and Mackinac Island is still car free. You can still smell the horses 5 miles out when you are sailing in from Lake Huron. I've only ridden a mountain bike there once, but the horse trails are pretty cool.

Was it a Super Le Tour? Ah that was you? I wish I'd known I would've talked bikes for a bit! I had just got back from the island when I saw you, I got that bike there with 3 other pretty clean partially built frames and one complete bike from an estate but never had time to build it all summer.

Phil, cool! Yes it was the Super Le Tour, sorry for the senior moment. It's nice and on the workstand currently. What do you do at the Island?

If you make it there send me a message, I work at a bike shop on the island and am always up to meet a forum member and chat or go for a ride. Riding there just never gets old!

I'm a mechanic at a bike shop there, we are the only one that is a regular shop with full service repair and new bikes for sale. I've seen some frightening things there, it's the M.A.S.H. of bike repair haha, people wanting full tune ups on 30 year old Huffys while they wait!

Southeastern Wisconsin. Coldest, snowiest winter in a decade at least. Sure hope it lets up soon as I would like to get out and ride sometime before June.

This morning I received an email from our local bike club stating that on March 10th we are starting up our weekly club rides.

Seeing as the temps are still going to be in the teens to twenties, and the roads are still going to be snow and ice covered with little to no shoulders available, I'm planning on waiting at least a few more weeks before participating.

March Ist -50c with wind chill and that after pretty much four months of -20 and below. Still about three and a half feet of snow on the ground. Winters here (Manitoba) are usually pretty bad but this is the worst i remember.

It took a couple inches off the snowpack, but that same night the temperature dropped again to sub-zero and all that melt water froze solid. The long-term forecast suggests we won't get above freezing again until mid-March.

Yep, that's about when they start traveling again around here (the whole West coast probably). There's a giant holly tree right outside, that literally feeds hundreds or maybe thousands of birds, counting the local crows, seagulls, & occasional geese. Rain as usual here, running on the chilly side. I guess it was down in the 30s F last night, & it still hasn't warmed up much. Wool is my friend, especially on the socks.

That stinks. Our 15day shows a warming trend coming by Friday. Who knows how warm and how long. A slow spring coming.
