diamond in the (very) rough Cinelli
 

I am unsure of the vintage or model, but the price was right and I think worth the 2.5hour round trip...

That's a little rough... but I'll be happy to take it off your hands to save you all the hard work.:p I believe the chrome lugs make it a SC and it looks like mid 70's maybe. Some of the Cinelli experts will be able to tell you for sure.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but I think that is maybe not a Cinelli. The serial number on the seat lug and not the bottom bracket as well as two holes (not three) in the head lug make me think this. It also doesn't look exactly like the Windsor copy's I have seen either.

Nice. No expert but, remnants of head tube decal look like it might be new logo to me. When did the introduce that "new" logo?

I'm inclined to agree with kylarr, I think it is a Windsor too. The seat cluster is very "square".

The new logo was sometime after ~1979, but brazed on brake cable guides (on the top tube) appeared long before that. Not sure what to make of this.

I think the head logo was a later addition, I hope I did not drive that far for a Windsor! It does have a enough nice bits to justify the price.
Both calipers are of the drop bolt variety and it has an Edco Competition bb. Frame details seem to match up with early 70's models but the missing head badge holes worry me a bit. Seat post size appears about 26.4mm but I need to find my caliper :)

Looking at those head tube lugs, I vote Windsor too. Still a pretty nice score.

I am about positive now that it is a Windsor pro. I am still ok with what I paid so I am happy. (not Cinelli happy maybe :D )

These things happen, do note that turning a Windsor into a Cinelli was done way back too.

Previous owner did not know I am fairly certain. I am sure is will ride well.

The good news is that a Windsor Pro (or maybe a Carabela Pro in this case) ain't all that bad and you got Campy brakes with drop-bolts! Not to mention the Edco BB...so turn that frown upside down! :)
Yes, they can be fine riders, especially nice with some good wheels.

If it were a Cinelli it would get a nice re chrome and wet paint with decals. Since it is not a "grail" bike I am leaning toward powder coat and maybe a set of 650b wheels... It has nice parts and I will know how straight it is soon. Should be fun!

Windsors are underrated :)

Hey any frame set with chrome lugs is worth serious value in my book.

I had a Pro in the late 70's, second hand. Still miss that bike. They ride nice. A worthy fix up, for sure.

for reference, there were other super corsa replicas besides the carabela. one i can recall is the pinzani.

tip: check interior of shell for rust. a batch of these came through in the early to mid seventies with bad rust n that spot.

I agree with the Windsor assessment. When the bike was listed, I thought the pictures did not look right, so I asked the seller for the higher resolution originals. I told her that it was probably a Windsor, but the components were alone worth the (increased) asking price.

I agree it was worth the drive and the education... a good excuse to hit Falafel Hut by the boardwalk too :D

Same here. I guess I'd be disappointed if i thought I was getting a Cinelli, but I'd really like to have a Windsor Professional - not only because they're nice frames, but also for sentimental reasons. I owned a Windsor in the 70s, the only brand new complete road bike I've ever owned. It was stolen off my porch one night (cable cut) and I've been grieving ever since (not really. I soon found a Super Course MkII which was a great bike and actually fit me better than the Windsor).

Yes, everything about the bike says Windsor. Nice bike anyways, and even more rare than Cinelli SCs ;)
