Do Dura ace 7401 downtube shifters polish up well?
Just wondering if the DA 7401 shifters could be polished up? I have a set that doesn't seem to be in too good condition cosmetically

Yes, but you have to remove the anodizing first (I used Easy-Off oven cleaner). These were once the dark gray variety. There are little notches on the back which add a little more difficulty. Just work carefully so you don't round off the edges of the notches too much when you sand & polish them. Same with the "Dura-Ace" text. It doesn't take much to lose some of the definition of the letters.
