Just because they charge a lot doesn't mean it costs them a lot. They charge a lot only because they can. It's just as cheap to produce that stuff as it is to produce Valvoline grease. They use it in their own hubs because it's just as good as Valvoline, too.

I stand corrected....as expensive at Shimano grease is...it's still cheaper than Honda's polyurea SHT grease by 50%.

I get a bit confused looking at all the grease options Shimano offers. Grease for this, grease for that, etc.

Steep, and that isn't even the special Dura Ace special grease, is it?

Napa has Valvoline Red Synthetic for only 2.99. Coastal Marine was 3.99 or 4.99. Tempted to try these instead of Mobil One, which I have used before, and I do like it.

I use the Dura Ace/Premium for high end bearings. I've notice that tubes are considerably less expensive than small tubs...100g tubes/$18 or 50g tubs/$15

Dura Ace grease
Premium grease
Cable grease
Freehub body grease
IGH/Nexus grease
Roller Brake grease
Regular grease

And then all the fishing gear grease!!!
