Campy Delta Brake pads for carbon wheels?

Hi Guys,

Anyone knows what brake pads can I use with the Campagnolo Delta Brakes on a Mavic Comete Carbon Disk brakes?

The original brake pads are for alloy rims but can I use that on a carbon wheel?

Please help.

Thank you and best regards,
Freeman

Isn't there a brand called "Corrima" that sold CF wheelsets and brake pads to use on the. I would think their brake pads could work on your wheels. Just not sure if they make pads to fit Campy Delta holders or of they have anything that would bolt right on plug and play style...

Depending on what you are going to do with the bike, the existing pads might work fine. There is no magical reason carbon rims need special pads, but there are two issues - wear and heat. If the regular rubber pads are new or clean, they will work fine, but they will wear out faster. Carbon specific pads are a good idea if you are going to be doing long descents, as they dissipate heat better keeping the pads from getting to a glazing or melting point. Here in the Midwest I've mixed carbon, non carbon pads with alu and carbon rims many times. I always resurface the pads with 200 sandpaper when I switch wheels. I've also found that the Zipp carbon pads are the best when you have to switch back and forth between a carbon rim and alu rim - which I do regularly with my TT bike. I've also used Kool stop carbon pads on my road bike that uses both kinds of wheels. I use regular pads on my cross bikes because they seem a bit softer and therefore work better when I have a carbon wheel on and it is wet or muddy - and they never make noise - there is nothing more horrible than a worn out yellow swiss stop pad trying to slow a carbon wheel in the wet.

Mavic probably recommends a specific pad for their carbon rims so check the Mavic website. My bike with carbon rims has Bontrager cork pads only because that's what it came with.

You'll need to replace the pad and holder as I'm sure nobody make a carbon compatible insert for the Delta's....

Sorry for my typo error, it should be Mavic Comete Disk Wheels. I have a classic Darrcordi TT Lo Pro with Croce D-Aune groupset and Campy Khamsin Disk rear wheel setup. Recently I got to acquire a collector's Mavic Comete +\- Carbon Disk Wheel (both 650c front and 700c rear) and another pair of Mavic 3G Trispoke Carbon Wheelset both in prestige conditions. I intend to ride them and doesn't want to damage the braking surface while retaining the use of the Delta brakes on my TT bike, hence the very ignorant question posted here by me.

I see that there are some cork brake pads for the earlier campy Super Record brake calipers, are those compatible with the Deltas and will they work on carbon surface?

I have tried to change out the pad holders to the modern ones with carbon specific pads but they are too small and the Delta calipers have to be compressed almost to the maximum to be effective.

I'm out of ideas here so please advise. Greatly appreciate all the replies and feedbacks, thanks gents.

Those Deltas have thick pads and holders don't they...I was afraid that would happen. If you already have pads and holders use spacers and longer bolts to space out the pads.

These are Campagnolo branded and they fit NR/SR holders.

Thank you all for your quick replies and kind suggestions. It left me with no choice but to either swap out the Mavic Comete Disk wheels back to the Campag Khamsin Disk or to swap out the Deltas for the newer Campag Monoplaner brake calipers.

I'm all ears for other better suggestions from all the experts here.

Spacers behind the pads with longer bolts....
