The original owner added the saddle and grips in 1951... have done a little parts swapping so now those bars live on my 1954 Sports and the saddle sits on my Raleigh 20... the older Raleigh now wears a Wright's saddle.

This is one of the most interesting threads... seeing bicycles that are exact matches to their catalogue / adverts is like opening a time capsule while the little changes and modifications people have made are also quite intriguing.

And then there are those un-named maniacs who set their bikes on fire and cut them up .

@LesE, That's a beauty. What made you decide to finally take it out of the box?

Thanks. Actually, it has it's share of scars but it photographs rather well.

I recently bought a 1986 Fuji Sundance ATB in Slate Blue from the original owner. Everything was original except for the saddle and tires. This link is from the classicfuji website and a photo of the bike. As you can see I've done some modifications. The bike is "technically" a bit large for me but I ride it anyway. I most recently put some Velo Orange Postino h'bars on with swept back & no rise. I haven't ridden though since I'm recovering from surgery and can't ride for 4-6 weeks (it's killing me!). OK, here it is:

Not an exact match, but on purpose. The idea was to build a "survivor". Not exactly correct. Perhaps as the owner might have modified it as he rode it. I toyed with the idea of putting the front wheel on wrong and having the front brake lever hanging open.

You mean… by putting red bar tape on an orange bike?

Among other things, ha! Some cycling buddies and I have a running joke that adding red to your bike makes you faster. I'm sure the tape will come off by summer, and matching brown (or orange) tape will go back on.
