The stock one is my rider. The other stays in my office to admire, now that I've built it.

A most recent shot...

But thanks.

Nice job, fender1. I'm happy that you changed the bar tape from your first post about this bike. Also, I like that you've used the cyclones to replace the Hurets. I think that you made a great decision.

Looks great..... enjoy!

Thanks! The other tape job was derived from leftovers. I went over it with the black tape, which was the plan. I like 2 layers of cloth on my bars.

One of my Grail bikes!! But the Dyno Hub wasn't standard. Usually spec'd with Normandy Luxe (red dust seals) Hubs. But on any given day or model, it could have been a different set of hubs......

OMG, Norman's bike. I forgot all about them. I probably have a '74 catalog kicking around. They had flat bars, no way Norman would use drops. If I can find a picture and specs I'll scan and post. No Dynohub, either.

Obituary For: Norman Langenfeld | M. John Scanlan Funeral Home

Norman Langenfeld. One of the many in Raleigh America's home office who didn't know where on a bike one was supposed to sit... This bike was his idea.

Nice bike Brian! Looks great.

I had one of those in my possession for a while that I picked up in the ghettos of Pottstown,Pa for someone who bought it on eBay. I think it was someone from BF here? i don't recall.

actually here it is from my picasa account.

Anyhow, nice score.

How do those tires ride? I think i have a set of them on the way in 650bx38 flavor.

Really nice build. I'm curious about the tires, too.

Another excellent build, fender1. I gotta try those tires! They look like Hetres.

Thanks! The tires will get the long ride test this weekend. The short rides I have done make me very happy I bought them. I am a bit of a skeptic when it comes to boutique stuff but I was wrong in this case. I rode the bike with Vittoria Hyper Rando 35mm tires and the new Compass Baby shoe Pass 38mm tires.

The Compass tires are noticeably faster and handle (grip) a lot better in turns (I sound like a commercial). My only concern is how well they hold up with regard to flats. I did buy 2 small containers of Stans Sealant to put into the tubes if they prove to be too fragile. Fingers crossed.

I sold my blood to buy books and food when I was in college. They gave me extra for my O-.

Can you call it donating when they pay you for it?

In a way, it's true. I put myself through college the hard way, without burdening my parents or going into debt. I'm proud of that.

He's just being snarky.

Bad pun around the 0-, as in the post was kind of negative. I am working waaay too hard to make a bad joke. Usually means it was not funny to begin with.....
