Protecting you C&V commuter bike in the bike rack with tape?

Hello All:
I am about to take possession of a new-to-me commuter, a Waterford built Heron. Most of the time it will live indoors at my office. But occasionally it will be locked up with the rest of the riff raff in bike racks. I'd like to protect the top tube with some sort of tough but clear tape. I googled and found reference to 3M 8671HS but it seems only sold in $$$$ quantities.
Do any of you happen to know where to purchase small quantities of this or some other alternative? I want to keep it looking mint!
Thanks in advance,
Jim

I saw a product online that was basically tape cut to go around the frame. No idea what it was called though.

Me... I'd go for this myself:

From Yarn Bombed Bikes | Yarn Bomb Yukon

How about that tubing insulation for plumbing. Not sure what it's called but I use it on my bike rack that I put on the back of my car. It's sort of styrofoam hard tubing with a slit down the middle. Someone help me out here. What's it called? You would normally buy it for the specific diameter of pipe you're covering so you can get it in a variety of sizes & they come in about 5' lengths and very easy to cut. Not pretty, but does the job and would pop right on or off without the issue of tape. It's less than $2 for 6'
OK, it's called: [h=1]Foam Plumbing Tubular Pipe Insulation[/h]

Top tube protector, or mix form and function with some retroreflective tape in a color that matches the frame.

That bike is 'yarn bombed'... meaning they will take all of that off in a few days.
But, yarny people do make more functional yarn things for bikes.

I'm currently making a skirt guard myself. It's very, very orange.

For a Waterford made bike you want this.
Leather Top Tube Protector - Chainguards, Frame Protectors, Kickstands - Accessories

Not even that expensive.

When I had to use a bike rack regularly, I wrapped my main tubes with the shower curtain rod wrap that you get at home supply stores. About 2-3 bux a pop, over 6', easily enough for a whole frame. A little judicious trimming is needed to fit neatly around joints, bottle mounts, etc.
