Why no love for these?
This are not mine, but I don't understand why they are getting no love from the craigslist community?
Am I out of touch on the value of these models? I see world and world sports posted for similar or higher prices? Wish they were smaller or I was taller.

They look like good deals to me, but I'm guessing the right person hasn't seen them. I wouldn't be the right person either.

Lousy ads + dirty bikes. At least half of what a bike brings is the marketing effort/skills of the seller. Buyers have no imagination. Bike needs to be appealing aesthetically and presented well.

As of 7:40 am today, the mtb ad is less than an hour old, and the Prelude ad is 19 hours. It's probably been raining cats and dogs in Dayton like everywhere else.

That Prelude would go for at least $300 up here, even with that paint. I'd have snapped it up myself at the advertised price.

Much as I love to ride my Preludes, I would have trouble bringing that one home.

Whats wrong with Suntour/Dia Compe/Sugino? I have some Suntour Superbe and Sugino 75 components that I would put up against Campy and Dura-ace anyday.

Yes while a very nice bike the Prelude is cosmetically challenged.

The mountain bike has been posted For a month and started at about $200. Prelude started at 175 and has been reposted at least twice.

Well, since you asked. It's NOT Shimano which is what everyone wanted and preferred back when that was Prelude was new. Shimano's entry level Light Action and Z series indexed derailleurs worked better than anything in Campy made. Comparing Sugino 75 and Superbe to the what's on the Prelude is an apples to oranges comparison.

Issues with the Prelude:
Hoods that are not available when replacement time comes, plus they are white so more-easily cosmetically challenged.
Wheels on this bike are rather poor quality. These particular Weinmann rims bend quite easily, and I've rarely come across these wheels where the bearings aren't badly pitted.
No mention of the bike's mechanical status, recent servicing, tires, etc., just "take it as it is", like a garage-sale (where it would cost only $75).
So it will take a bunch of time and money to make this Schwinn into a really nice mid-range bike.
Lastly, the Schwinn and Mongoose brands have become associated with department store disposable bikes.
Having said all this, a bike like this gets the price jacked up for sale in any college town or big city, where frequent thefts means high demand for low-cost replacements.

I very very frequently sell bikes in Columbus, and can consistently get more money out of lower-end bikes than those. It's all about presentation. The more pictures the better, sizing info, component info, sometimes a bit of history about the bike, and any work that has been done to it, will all help sale prices.
In short, people who know bikes will probably either be able to find better deals or will already have something nicer. And for people who don't know bikes, what info is there in those ads that tells them those bikes are any better than the hundreds of others posted for cheaper?

I don't know about love for bikes. However I'm thinking they are not selling because no one is looking for those two models. Neither bike ignites much visual interest for me and they are maybe middle of the road models. Consequently they seem over priced.

If you synced the prelude to some spin doctors soundtrac, you probably could close the deal! 150 seems about right for college town, at least around here that would be 150+- with some patience.

Thrifty Bill is right; both of those ads are terrible.
The Prelude seller doesn't talk up the good points of the bike, specification list, etc., and doesn't even mention the frame size.
There's only one photo of the Series Paramount MTB; there should be several showing details of the tubing joints, tubing decal, close-ups of the drivetrain, etc.
Both bikes should have been cleaned up and sparkling.

They're both solid deals...not quite flips, but good for a user. Neither bike is special to me or anything, but they're good value transportation. Used MTBs are hard to sell without turning them into commuters.

That Prelude would sell in the NY market no problem. Heck, I'd buy it myself - looks to be my size. But it derives its power from that saddle. It's nothing, NOTHING without that saddle. I'd have to get a whole new (old) wardrobe to ride that thing - canvas pants, matching blazer, mirror aviators, and old school checkered Vans. I'd have to strap a boombox blasting the theme from Miami Vice on the handlebars. Cool bike, though.
