C&V Components on Modern Bikes

Modern components on classic frames is one thing (even I have done that), but how about C&V components on modern rides? I admit that MA-40's aren't that C&V, and the Clements are the recently resurrected variety (they still remind me of the old days), but at least the Campagnolo skewers are from the mid 80's:

I have an amazingly light 9/10/11 speed Campy wheelset built up with 28H Mavic GEL 280 tubular rims. And I do use the old style skewers with them as well.

I have a pair of bluemels lightweight fenders on my cross/commuter that are at least 40 years old.

I'm running 9-sp DA DT shifters on a bike because I just like them better.

I top out at the eight speed 6400 or 7400 STI groups, as they are rebuildable, and I like the aesthetics better.

On keeper mtbs, I cap it to seven speed. The shifters are cheap and reliable.

But the really vintage components go on era correct frame sets.

I like to hot-rod older frames with newer components, but have an aversion to using older components on a frame from a noticeably more recent era.

I've upgraded a couple of Kent bikes with surplus 80's vintage parts from my stash.

I can't help but think 1st gen. Suntour Cyclone or Suntour Vx would look pretty good on a Surly CrossCheck or Pacer frameset. Not sure if it's even feasible with RD ranges and FD clamp sizes
