31 minutes was not fast enough....

To get this $200.00 Cinelli.

I pulled this image at 43 minutes as figured it would be gone. Talked to the guy this afternoon and he had three people at his shop bidding on it in 15 minutes.

Congrats on not buying a stolen bike.

May the people who walked into his (pawn?) shop be blessed with Karma.

Heck I am a block away, at the shopping center off Warner on Algonquin, and that bike looks to be my size! I can't figure out that location exactly - no bike shop around here, nor pawn shop for that matter. But this isn't a neighborhood where you are likely to run into fenced goods...

Don't worry, it might be cheap because it's really just a "Cenelli".......

if there was bidding between 3 parties, no one got a $200 bike.

i've probably bought stolen stuff before. there's little way to tell. it's not like the guys selling stuff look and act like peter lorre in 'm.' they don't usually have a chalked 't' on their shoulder designating them a thief.

with that said, we're all thieves in one way or another. how many threads you think there are here bragging about the bike just purchased for pennies on the dollar from the guy that didn't know what he was selling?

When I talked to the guy he sounded like he was older, maybe didn't realize the market for what he had. He seemed genuinely happy with what he got. The shop was an automotive related one by the name on the voicemail it left at 31 minutes.

There are good deals out there if one is quick(er) on the draw. Clearly there are also shady deals as well. I believe this was the former.

semantics, subtle differences ...

some people surf the bike forums while at work. some people print their resume with the company copier. some people too aggressively shelter income from taxes. some people pay the old lady $50 for the $400 bike. some people look the other way when buying the brooks saddle from the sketchy guy. some people cut the lock off the bike not their own.

Wouldn't be too sure about that "points finger" thing.

The greater LA area has a ****-ton of heroin and meth addicts. They'll steal anything, even if nailed down.

OK. But what about those of us who do none of that? I think you've made a gross generalization there.

i think the grossness is in believing one is so innocent among a world of thieves.

what's ironic is the richest among us often rob the most.

"what's ironic is the richest among us often rob the most."

Class warfare, wow. This one is heading to a lock for sure.

As to your conclusion, I have no idea. If I was going to guess, I would look to one of our contributors on the west coast, rather than Florida.

As far as contribution to the cause, kudos to Jim for setting up a classy Peugeot site on his own time and at his own cost. Thanks Jim!

And... some people DO NOT. It would be an incorrect and a misguided assumption to think that we all share the exact same faults. Some of us have too many faults to count. And may not be currently trying to make improvements.

Others.... spend decades in pursuit of a correct inventory of our short comings. And regularly make amendments for any infractions on others... as we try to improve our moral character.

The former lifestyle is almost always is a life of solitude... absent of close friends and meaningful family relationships. Whereas the latter life is generally richer and fuller... whether or not it is substantial in prosperity. I PROMISE you the differences have nothing to do with semantics, nor are they subtle.... by any measurement.

the class warfare and finger pointing normally occurs here with the pile-on of bike owners, like myself, wishing violence upon thieves. i'm playing devil's advocate, but i'm also sound enough to know the lines are often blurred given the cards we are dealt.

it goes both ways and all ways.

cutter, you see huge differences in people. i do not. but i do see the good, more so than the bad. when i see a criminal on tv or whatever, i just thank my parents for dealing me my hand. because in an alternate reality, that guy on tv is me.
