Help me Build My CIOCC...

Hey Guys,

Got this CIOCC about a week ago, just got the fork back from the platers, still need to trim it down 2mm. I'm undecided on which group to hang on it.
The rear is spread to 128, so either early or late group will work just fine. I have 4 other bikes with Super Record. The frame set is really light, Columus SL.
1: Nuovo Record, with large flange wheel set and D/T shifters
2: Super Record, late production wth Cobalto Brakes, low flange hubs Ma40's...
3: 8 Speed ergo Chorus Group, with correct C-Record hubs, crank, brakes and so on.....
4: Record 10 Speed Ergo Group with Record Ti Hub/open pro wheel set

Here's the frame set almost ready to build.

waiting for the Columbus SL fork decals from Greg Softly

With that headset I'd probably go with option 3 but looking at the frame, it looks like there is only one set of bottle bosses. My heart says option one - the Nuovo Record groupset. Ditch the headset and get a steel Nuovo Record headset. To me, the frame says early 80's and is also a great time period for the Coumbus SL tubing. I can also imagine those large flange hubs shining in the sunlight.

(When I first caught a glimpse of the frame I thought the Cobalto blue jewel would look great with the frame but I can't get past the single set of bottle bosses. I think Cobalto fits the start of the 2 bottle cage era.)

Oh……by the way……it's a really nice looking frame.

Chorus ergo 8-speed seems closest to period-correct without being overly-clunky. I'd use that if this were my bike.

(actually, if it were my bike I'd be using Dura-Ace 7400).

Record 10-speed should be okay - it'll shift better, but also will be a little out of place on the bike. 2nd place.

SR group late production comes in 3rd.
