Color opinion needed for bar tape...
I changed the handlebars on my 2001 LeMond Nevada City and am wondering if You have ideas on what color tape I should use. (My wife says I have NO creativity, as I have only had black on it).
I thought white (probably the best), then thought maybe red (letters are outlined in red) or yellow (there are yellow stripes, and is like blue & yellow). Bike is a metallic navy blue.
Here are some pics.

White tape looks great when you first apply it, but it get mad dirty really fast. If you're OK with grey tape, go for it. Between red and yellow, I'd go with yellow, more times than not red is too flashy. Also, what about navy tape?

silver or blue fizik.
white fizik stays nice a long time, especially if you wear gloves, but white tape is so last year.

Ok...here are some close ups of the logo...and the fork...which was why I was considering red. But I agree that it would probably be TOO much. As for blue, I am not sure I could match the blue of the bike. Silver?? Hmmm. Over black?

I'm through attempting to precisely match bar tape (or tires) with paint colours. It always looks not quite right because it's close in colour but doesn't match. Now I think it's better to use a colour that complements, but doesn't "match" the main paint colour. The light blue is a good suggestion, as is the neutrals--white, black and grey. Don't ignore a light brown (like a classic Cinelli natural cork) as it's light but hides dirt well. I'm inclined to vote silver or grey with that electrical tape trick.

Black or white. And I'm a decal color matcher - even using (oh, the horror) matching splash tape on a couple of rides. But black or white on yours.

I'm agreeing with the light blue/ blue suggestion. My second choice would be white. They tie in nicely with the main colours of the frame.

I have Jagwire housing in "Maize" a soft yellow on my red Moto Grand Jubile. It matches the lettering on the bike. It stands out & there's a lot of yellow going on up front. Black is likely to visually disappear. So it depends on what you want people to notice - bike or housing.

Fizik blue with it's metallic finish is very nice. Red is also a nice color which matches the lettering highlight and contrast well with your dark blue.

Black or white possibly with blue tape. Anything but yellow! I hate yellow wrap especially on a blue bike.

My first choice would be duplicating the red in the letter striping. 2nd choice would be the blue in the Lemond (aka lighter than the main color of the bike). I would also consider changing the water bottle cages to the same color. But I like flash.

Your wife is likely correct.... as wife's tend to be that way. But not being "creative" doesn't make you wrong. Black is the best color for that bicycles configuration. But blue cable housings and blue tape would look nice too.

Ok. So I went out to the garage, beer in hand, with all of your ideas. I decided red would be TOO much. Not enough yellow to swing that. I can't get past the different shades of blue. Not gonna change the saddle, so I'm guessing neutral is out.
So it is down to Silver, White, or black.
Silver was easy to imagine, as the bars were silver.
White is close so it was easy to imagine also.
These are possible...BUT...since the saddle, the rims, the hubs, the hoods and the cables are all black, I have decided that I am gonna stick with black. I know, boring...but I hunk it is he only color I will be happy with.
Thank you all for your input and help.

Black to match your saddle. it's a flow thing.
Your bike is primarily made up of dark colors so i'd go dark wrap.

So, just to finish this thread...I went to LBS today and they didn't have any Black Fizik, I was about to just buy black cork...then I saw the Specialized Classic, with different colored perforations. They had a royal blue that matched one of the stripes...so I went with it.
Here red it is, thank you all for your input.
Oh, and yes..I know that it is wrapped "backwards", but I have never liked any of my tape finishing jobs, so I always go from top to drops. I've not had a peeling problem yet (knock on wood).
